Hi TDI :D,

I picked up this Passat last week. Happy with it so far but there is a slight grind in 2nd gear. I'm going to change the oil to see if it improves. What's a good oil to use?

Fluid viscosity in a manual trans is a bit of a balancing act between keeping the gears happy and keeping the syncronizers happy.

If your grind is slight, then a lighter viscosity fluid may help you - many on the list in that post are available in the UK. Try fuchs, and motul - check the CsT values and go from there.

Thanks Windex, great information there. I think I will buy Penz(GM) syncromesh oil and see if that improves the gear change. If not I'll be getting new syncro's. Is there an upgraded syncro available. I don't fancy doing all that work and then putting brass syncro's back in again.

Also, can the black plastic panels be bought separate for the front bumper? There are a few cracks as you can see from the silver duct tape!

Yes the grill components can be purchased separately, however try any local car breakers first.
