LUBBOCK, TX is where I am located.

Contact me through email: brycestash@yahoo.com, or text me for a quicker response...I don't typically use this forum.

Call me or text 325-660-4747 if you have any questions. I will send picture to email upon request. The top of the car has paint fading issues, and I can take care of it but it will cost $300-$800 depending of the facility.

Here is a link to some picture...these were from about 8 months ago. Paint has gotten worse, and clear coat on bumper has gotten worse. The car is dirty from this mineral ridden Lubbock water, but I should have it somewhat clean by the time you come to look at it. For more recent pictures don't hesitate to call text or email.

2001 Volkswagen Golf TDI

116k miles
5 speed. Runs and drives great

BRAND NEW TIRES (<500 miles on them)

Everything works.

$7900 OBO Here is a description. Call if you have any questions. 325-660-4747

I am selling this car in order to get a truck. I initially wanted to keep it, because it is honestly the BEST TDI I have ever owned. (I have had 3 prior), but I need the money.

The car has 116k miles on it and counting. I have personally put 19,000 of those miles on it without a problem.

Car averages a REAL 48 MPG on the highway (at 70mph) and with ALL town it gets around 38-40. I have never seen it below 37 MPG, and with the way I drive, it usually get low 40 MPG.
It also will get 600-700 miles to the tank, because the bladder ring on the fuel tank has been taken out, which will allow you to store 3+ gallons more. I can explain if you would like.

This is truly a TDI lover's dream, It HAS SO MUCH DONE to it. THE owner before me was designing it to reach the 1,000,000 mile club, and did all the necessary upgrades so it would get there. I will list them below as well as the features.

Timing Belt (100k miles one) was put in at 73k miles. Water pump was done then too.

1. Car has a 2 micron FUEL FILTER set up. Fuel filters are from CATAPILLER, so they are definitely heavy duty and I will include 2 extras
2. Car has a 2 micron DUAL filtration Oil Filter system on it...It is an AMSOIL filter, and is very HD. The other one is the STOCK volkswagen that I replace regularly.
3. Car has a crank case ventilator on it so you don't have to go through EGR valves all the time. It keeps it clean, and will allow the car to last much longer with far fewer problems.
4. Car has a HD aluminum skid plate on the bottom. (EXPENSIVE)
5. Car has GLASS lenses on the headlights, so you don't have to worry about about that dull look.
6. Car is a 5 speed manual now, and it is a short shifter I believe. SHIFTS PERFECTLY.

-A/C BLOW ICE COLD works 100% and so does heat

Car is a GLS, which means it has basically every option
6 disc CD player w/ tape player
SUNROOF that is fully functional and does not leak

All windows roll up and down great, stereo works awesome.

CAR COMES WITH A BOX of extra parts, as you can see in the picture...air filters, oil filters, brake fluid, supsension parts, TONS OF EXTRAS... all of this costs too.

Here are the BAD parts to this car.
-IT is really going to need a good buffing or just a new coat of paint. I didn't mind it, but some people will. I tried to apply some dull paint shiner yesterday and it just made the top of the car white as you can see in some of the pictures.

The car doesn't look to bad if I wouldn't have screwed with it, but I just don't have the time now to polish and clean it all up.

DASH mat is there to protect the dash from the sun, THE DASH IS NOT CRACKED, and is in perfect shape.

The only other bad things I can think of are that the glove box hinge handle is broke, and there are a few patchings in the window seals...works great but looks a little bit funny close up. (not noticeable from afar)

I would drive this car anywhere, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to email. THIS CAR IS 100% PROBABLY THE BEST MECHANICAL TDI THERE IS.

It has been gone through with VAG-COM and tuned to be most efficient at IDLE and cruising speeds.

NOTE: body is not perfect...there is clear coat peeling of the front bumper, a faded top and hood, and so scratch and dings all over. It is not cosmetically perfect, but with that said, it would not take that much money to make is look almost new.

I will not meet you half way, and yes I can pick you up from the lubbock airport. CASH is the only form of payment I accept.

ALSO, I forgot that in the past 3 months, I have put on a new battery and new brake pads. NEW Captiol Sport Tires 215/70/15 runs lower RPM on highway, makes the car ride better. rubs a TAD bit at the perfect steering wheel angle.

REMEMBER...paint is fading on the top of the hood and roof, and the front and rear bumpers have little cracks and the clear coat is peeling. It is not perfect cosmetically, but for $600 at a paint shop you could have it look good on the outside as well as the inside.

325-660-4747 CALL OR TEXT OR EMAIL

Thanks,
Bryce

I see you registered here just to sell cars, nice.

I suggest registering as the vendor because based on your past history, it appears that you are selling a bit more cars that an average person would own.

There is no reason to be rude about the possible longevity of this car, unless you are just that type of person.

And maybe I should sign up as a vendor but since this is the 2nd or 3rd car I have tried to sell on here I am not sure that would be the best idea. What constitutes a vendor?

Anyways, please keep the comments question related or positive if you can. No one typically enjoys the abruptly rude person.

Sorry to inconvenience you.

Vendor is someone who sells cars(or anything else) for profit and not for personal use and thuse is labeled as such.

You are clearly trying to sell cars for profit therefor need to register as a vendor. It has nothing to do with how much you actually sell. Its all in the rules if you read them.

I have owned the car for close to a year and am approaching 20,000 miles that I have put on it. Does that constitute personal use, or does that constitute trying to "flip" the car? I apologize for not reading the rules, but I didn't think selling a car that has been my sole vehicle since last year would violate any TDI forum regulations. Are the two categories mutually exclusive?

Additionally, dropping ~$500 into brand new tires doesn't seem very smart for someone who is trying to make a large profit. It is crazy how just trying to sell a car can turn into this. I apologize for smarting off, but you would think other people would have better things to do than to read every TDI forum and call people out line by line for rule violations.

Thanks,
Bryce

There are just too many to list....
I think many would look the other way if you were here posting and contributing in other ways, instead of just doing FS threads, of which this is #4 (and the only other thread you started, was LOOKING for a car?).

I think this is where the term curbstoning comes into play. No worries, being a vendor doesn't cost you anything, just need to register.

This taken from the sticky thread in this section:

http://forums.tdiclub.com/showpost.php?p=2388130&postcount=3

Please read it. Specifically this sentence:

If flipping TDIs is a hobby and one wishes to use TDIClub's for sale forums, the simplest way to protect one self is to register as a vendor.

Sorry, should have used the smiley face. I just got found that pretty funny :p

You should know that you are on a TDI forum and the members here are quite aware of the performance and possible longevity of this car. So I get a kick out of it when we get the typical craigslist type of hype for these cars. KNOWN TO RUN FOR 1 MILLION MILES or COVERT TO GREASE AND DRIVE FOR FREE. The hype works better on the uninformed.

Here is one more example of hype. "THIS CAR IS 100% PROBABLY THE BEST MECHANICAL TDI THERE IS. " That is quite a lofty claim.:p

Yeah, I quote: "NEW Captiol Sport Tires 215/70/15 runs lower RPM on highway, makes the car ride better. rubs a TAD bit at the perfect steering wheel angle."

So, crappy Brand X tires, that are oversize and rub, no less. That's $500 right down the toilet. Why do sellers do this? Much better to leave the old tires on and reduce the price so the buyer can put his preferred tires (e.g. Michelins) on.

Edit: I was curious so I just googled Capitol Sport. No such company. These are Chinesium tires imported by ITR USA, Inc. That tire has a T (118 mph) speed rating too, two levels below the required H (130 mph) speed rating for this car.

I won't be making money on this car, and although capitol tires are cheap, if you have ever had them, you might be surprised by their performance. The came on a Mercedes C230 that I bought back in 2008, and they were some of the best handling tires that I have ever had. Personal opinion is personal opinion though. I didn't mark the car up any for putting these tires on.

And yes 100% is a lofty claim. I meant to put it is 100% mechanically the best tdi I have ever owned. Out of the 4, it is the best mechanically that I have ever owned. And no, I don't believe this car can go to 1 million miles without the proper care and maintenance AND LUCK. Like I said, when I bought the car, the previous seller told me that is why he put all those modifications on it. There should be some threads on this site about good things to do for your TDI, like a 2 micron oil and fuel filter...I'm sure this doesn't hurt the longevity. And I know you all are an informed crowd, I just didn't fell like typing everything again, so I copied and pasted a craigslist add. Some of the people on their aren't the most intelligent.

Thanks,
Bryce

Michelin Tires

The michelin tires that came off there would have stayed on if they didn't bubble. After 6 years of being on the car, and with 40% tread life remaining, the front 2 tires started to bubble. I got a vibration at 35 mpg that got progressively worse. That is why I would never buy michelins. If you would like to call the firestone dealer in lubbock I will give you their number and they can confirm this.

Thanks,
Bryce

I could have put some used tires on it that I had sitting around, but I instead chose to buy new ones. If you haven't used the tires before, don't talk poorly about them because it makes you look ignorant. Sure they aren't the "nicest" brand, but why would you buy performance tires for a 90hp vehicle? If someone can get 60k miles out of these tires it will be way more cost effective than for someone to drop $700-$800 and get the same mileage.

Like I said, this isn't a dodge viper we are talking about.

Bryce

I'm glad you asked. Here's how I think about it.

I've just put a set of Michelin Primacy MXV4 195/60R15 88V tires on a Volvo V40. Installed cost was about $550. I could have saved maybe a hundred bucks by going with a Chinesium tire. That $100 cost difference is absolutely the cheapest insurance available anywhere, imo. The Michelin tire is made in the USA by a reputable company and is as good a tire as you will find.

Now the Chinesium tire may be a good tire, but you don't really know. If it isn't, you may find out the hard way.

The point is, you've already made the decision for the buyer of this car. If I were to buy your car, the first thing I'd do is junk those brand new Brand X tires.

I believe a person could buy some General Altimax HP tires for 400-500ish with the proper load rating. E.g. 205/55/16 . I researched before I bought tires for my NB 3 years ago and it has paid off. 2 tires have 60k miles and still have 6mm of tread left. Tires were rated at 55k miles. Research pays off. A TDI may not be a viper, but safety always comes first. Yes I do have 195/65/15 snow tires, but that is not extreme as your 215/70/15...crazy.

I don't post much, but I know when to speak and when to listen. There are people here that know TDI's inside and out and one of the reasons my TDI has never been to the dealer for work.

Good luck selling. Personally, your for sale add had me laught out loud this morning as I was getting ready for work. I would try eBay or CL with the type of ad you have. Nevertheless, good luck!

Just to give you an idea of the type of people who visit this forum. Before I joined this forum and bought a 97 jetta TDi, I knew nothing about cars and was somewhat afried of them., Now, all the thanks to this forum, I am confident at changing oil, brakes, fuel filter and so on and have enough knowledge to have an idea about how my TDI works, runs, and what is wrong with it. I owe it all to this forum. These people truely know what they are talking about and though GTG, I have meet several honest, awesome people.

Man, you people keep things civilized here. Don't go to the BMW classifieds forums. You'll think you just walked in on WWIII.

Glad to see a relatively new poster is taking heed to the advice of the regular forum users and that the members here don't just attack, they provide concrete evidence to back their statements.

I think I'll stick around. Good luck with the sale!

i don't think i would blame michelin for tires that are six years old. Those tires were probably outside of their useful life expectancy.
