2000 golf tdi manual...whats it worth?

Someone has a 2000 golf tdi manual that needs a timing belt service, new driver door card, new hood, front carpet and a headliner to begin with prob suspension also... what is the absolute most you would pay for a 4 door golf little to no rust with the above needs? It runs

Lots of variables to consider. How many miles does it have? what's the body like? any rust?

I always figure that in most areas of the USA, a running car is worth at least $2000 dollars.

$2000 seems about right. The timing belt is not optional, nor is suspension work, but most of the other stuff is. It's a beater now and always will be.

Turbodieseldyke that is an astute observation... it would seem the lack of headliner and front carpet delete would point to past or current water issues and I'm betting the front left for card delete could also be related

IMO bad water leaks drop a $2000 car down to a $500 part donor, if you plan to spend time sitting inside it. There could be mold or mildew hiding everywhere in the upholstery, under trim panels, in the air ducts, just everywhere.

Yeah I haven't seen it in person but have messaged him... seems young... water issues usually bring electrical gremlins as well as mold...I was going to replace the interior but I don't want to have to hazmat it... anyone have an alh golf manual for sale ?

It's easy enough to clean out the sunroof drains with weed wacker line... But yes it's a bit of a project to get it dried out and scrubbed clean

Just because the carpet is bad does not mean that it was caused by water damage. The original floor mats do not last long, which is why most folks put down after-market mats -- sometimes WeatherTech or a cheaper alternative.

6-800 sounds reasonable to me, I’d rather put the $2000 into something I already own
