SOLD - 2000 Golf TDI GL Green

This car is a project, my best value purchase in a car at 15 years and 280,000 miles as the single owner.
I am certain it has life left in it, and/or a bunch of usable parts. Life, two jobs and the need for two kid seats with easy access all hit at the same time as a clutch not disengaging and a timing belt about 8-10K miles on the horizon. The AC was blowing cold but made a racket when on, so I have not used it in a year. The headliner is shot and sagging. All regular maintenance, i.e. oil and filter changes, timing belts etc. were done and on track. The clutch was replaced at 189,000 by Harv in LA when he did the last timing belt with a 100K kit. The hod and front driver's wheel well have small dents.
The good: Close to rust free, tires are 4 days old Kumho stock size on steel rims (ironic), battery is in good shape, glass and most body panels in good shape. Front leather seats from a MkIV GTI in good shape, Steel skid plate, monster mats, and plenty of other good parts if you need a donor car. Front brakes near new.
I have set of rear brakes that I bought from IDIpats at the same time as the front but not needed yet, Rear suspension bushings were a pending project and I have a set in the box. Looking through the garage tonight I will probably flush out some filters, the old Ross Tech TWIN-USB and KII-USB included,
This golf could probably be saved, and or breath some life into an existing project. More Pictures after I get my stuff out and clean it up a bit

The car is currently sitting in Ventura. It will start and idle in neutral. If started in gear with the clutch depressed it stalls out. I can use my AAA tow for a 7 mile pull if needed
I would like to get $1200 for it in light of the new and spare parts.
If curious, we bough a 2015 GSW TDI as the replacement, hoping it goes as well as this last one did

Wish you weren't across the US because I would have already picked this up to haul the dogs around in.

I should also add the fact that it may bee what was considered a 1999.5 or early German built 2000. Aside from basic manual interior upgraded with GTI parts where needed, it is mostly original stuff, original relay 109, and many of the MKiv issues never made an appearance, it just ran and ran and ran.

The EGR has a stealth mod, it is an oily thing but no soot and has been passing emissions so far. Light puff of smoke at start and consumes a quart of oil every 3000 miles or so. Not bad considering the intercooler has never been drained and the turbo is original and functioning fine.

Yes it is a tired ride that needs some love but will make a great little tractor for the next owner. If I had a few extra thousand $$ laying around I would probably keep it and hack it into a lifted camper

I just need to roll the $$$ from this into something for the wife ASAP. Her Honda is fading fast and the funds allocated to her future car down payment were siphoned off to keep me rolling to the high mileage day job.

First pass through the garage and found all this to include;

I have a box of various front and rear springs from the time when I was getting the 2" lift sorted out. No longer lifted. I am sure there is more to come out and be included. Without another Mk4 on my horizon it all goes with the Golf

The Mk4 Garage Clean out continues. Sway bar bushings that came as part of a suspension bushing kit, but were not needed at the time, new in the box. Found a bin of springs, front stock and a rear set from a Jetta wagon. These were from the time that I was developing a 2" lift kit that worked with Bilstein HD fronts. All this stuff comes with the car, really. If you are close, keeping a Mk4 alive or looking for a project this is a deal. Just need to find the right fit...

Bumping to the top, and hoping to sell this, and not learn about dropping off a car at the scrap yard.

I have a 100 mile AAA tow to help get her to the next stopping point if needed

No way it should go to a scrap yard. I am about 8 hours away and am interested. Need a car for the kids to start driving to high school (oldest of 6 just turned 15). Currently have 2 TDIs and would add another for kids. Have you done a compression check? Any performance upgrades?

No engine mods, outside of near stock injectors and stealth EGR. It sipps a little oil and coolant in hot weather. about a quart of each every three to 5K, and just runs. I was honestly planning on just doing the timing belt and pushing it through to the spring. The clutch issue made that more than I have time to deal with

Bump to top just because selling this weekend would be awesome.

Did I mention it is a 15 year old car with no rust and or bolts rusted in place? Hooray California for preserving active cars

anybody want to make a reasonable offer before I part this one out? So far every deal or interest has fallen off before it got off the ground. Considering the tires, and spare parts alone it is a very fair deal for the right fit.

I do have the ability to invoke a 100 mile tow from triple A if the situation calls for it.

Can you recap what all is included, and for what price? I'm in Phoenix and could put a deal together if it makes sense to me.... thanks.

tires rolled for 4 days before the clutch let lose, so relatively new. assortment of springs, new in box rear suspension arm bushings, front torsion bar bushings, winter air filter, oil filter, rear disk rotors, rear pads. older and newer VAG-Com cables, the car runs and idles, but will not go down the street due to the clutch. AC needs work, headliner has dropped, leather front seats from GTI in fair to good shape, all glass is intact with minor windshield chips, was getting 42-44MPG right up to the end, monster mats, No Rust

if you have the space and need a project or parts car this is probably an OK deal.

Man, I would really hate to see the car go to scrap or get torn down into parts. Flip side is that I have to negotiate with the better half if I add any other vehicles to what she calls my "used car lot". Hmm, figuring out my next move over coffee this morning...

The Golf has found her new home where she is most likely to be restored to operating glory as a commuter for a young guy. Thank you to everybody here who has helped me keep her alive for the last 15 years or so. as well as all the interest in the thread and PM channels.

Good! I'm in the Bay Area and was about to drive to you with cash in hand. Pass on knowledge of this website to the next owner. That's gonna be handy! It's how I got clued on to TDIclub existing...from the previous owner of my Beetle!

Such a rare beast to see anymore..those 2-door German-built Golfs. Fortunate new owner! :) :) :)
