2000 Golf Tdi
SOLD

Hey Diesel people, putting my 2000 Golf project/beater/cheap car up for sale. I bought it as a beater commuter, used this as a commuter and hauler. The interior was trashed when i got it (rear seats especially so), so the rear was gutted and I made a plywood platform inset in the back for hauling stuff, as I am a metal/woodworker by trade.

Selling because i moved closer to work, and my wife and i have 4 cars between us, and this one gets used the least.

Photos Here!!!!!

Basics:
2000 Golf GL 2 door ALH TDI 5 speed
274569 Miles on everything
I bought the car with 255k on it, with an unknown service history and needing work.

The bad:
  • Car is DIRTY, and in rough-ish cosmetic shape. Interior is mostly shot, exterior presents well but has plenty of dents, dings and scrapes on each panel. Front fender rust where these TDI's always do, and front Drivers side rocker panel rust/rot.
  • Was a Massachusets car, so has the typical NorthEast rust coating on stuff.
  • High mileage
  • Timing belt history is unknown, pandora's box at the moment, but sale includes kit and tools to do so!
  • Sounds like it wants new injectors to run smoothest.
  • The thermostat sticks open, so it takes forever to warm up.
  • Did i mention it was dirty?
  • Needs inspection, but I've put maybe 500 miles on it since last inspection, so I expect no trouble
  • The front bumper used to be blue. I know this because the paint is flaking off in places!

The Good:
Within the last 10K it has:
  • New stock turbo charger (old one had stuck/broken vanes)
  • Brake pads/rotors/fluid done
  • New vacuum lines installed
  • New Struts (blausport) and springs (rear towning springs)
  • Dieselgeek Panzer Skidplate and side protection
  • Appropriate oil/filter/trans oil changes
  • New single plate clutch installed, trans oil changed
  • KermaTDI oldman intake to replace cracked hoses
  • Aftermarket alloy wheels and newish tires.
  • Headlight Lenses replaces with clear glass euro version
  • Runs well as it sits, gets great mileage, can haul some stuff!
It also comes with:
  • VCDS USB module
  • Timing belt kit from ID parts
  • Timing belt tool kit from ID parts
  • Everything needed for coolant flush and new thermostat to replace stuck one
  • A set of spare filters, oil, etc. for next change (due at 275,000)
  • Spare set of steel wheels with winter tires installed (30-50% life left)
  • Probably more things/spares I'm forgetting, but that's all the big ones.

It looks like it could be a reliable workhorse for somebody, at a reasonable price. In most respects it looks better than my DD/work car. Clearly it needs the TB changed with a new thermostat, preferably the hot one for northern climates.

I think the lowest I'd go is $1200 with everything included, I'd maybe do $1000 for the car and everything except VCDS and maybe timing belt tools, and try to sell those seperately... That's definitely more work though!

Also is everything there if I wanted to throw a set of seats back in?
