I just took possession of a 2000 Golf TDI 2dr Hatchback, and before I even got it all the way home someone was kind enough to bust out the driver's door window and steal the stereo. Nice, huh? (even worse, the radio didn't even work!)

So, I was combing the salvage yards, and found an '07 window. I thought that didn't sound right, but they checked their cross-reference computer and it was supposed to fit. Needless to say, I got home, and it didn't.

SO... anyone know the model years that will work? I was thinking up to '03, but I'm having trouble finding evidence to support my theory.

Thanks guys! (and gals!)

1999.5-2005.5 is the MKIV platform, any window from a 2 door of that year will work, not sure about the 4 door as they seem to be shorter.
sorry about your luck.

The 4 door probably won't work. Look for any 2 door golf/gti from 99.5 to 2005. Were you able to return the incorrect window to the person who sold you the incorrect part?

Yeah, I worked it out with the salvage yard to take it back. Not typically their policy, but since I asked for a 2000 window, and their computer was wrong in saying the '07 would fit, it's their fault and they'll take the return.
