Just bout a 2000 beetle Tdi fell in love with it but was having trouble putting it in reverse and 2nd gear I noticed that someone had rigged the gear shift lever and welded a different part too it I went to 10 different pick and pulls and could not find this exact lever so I decided to order it it’s a bit pricey but I cannot find the bolt or the catch that grabs on to the cable link does anyone know where I can find it or how’s it supposed to look like ?

The part you have pictured is a 98/99 beetle. The 2000 beetle has the newer style shift relay lever. Can you post a pic of your actual shift mechanism?

So it’s practically going to be impossible finding that part ? lol since it’s only two year margin ?

Looking closer at your pics, you have the late cables with an early tower. The two are not compatible. So you need a late tower assembly to complete the package. Check your inbox for a second message. I have the tower.
