Greetings, due to unforeseen circumstances I had to buy a new car and I decided to get an A3 8P 2.0 TDI quattro with the PD 8v engine, which I've heard essentially is much like the older 1.9s. And so it begings...

Now I'm wondering what turbo should I get. I was thinking about the GTB2056VL off a Volvo which I've been running and the VP TDI Golf I previously had, but I got the 11mm pump and 0.280 nozzles. Would it be okay with the stock PD140 injectors for a while? I want it to be more everyday-ish and not some drag-like 3k spool. So I think it really comes to the 2056VL or the GTB1756VK. I've also been checking the GTB2060VKLR but it's sort of out of my budget. All opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone has told me 2060vklr. Which I’ll be happy to report my results as soon as installed. How does the 2056 do on your vp Tdi? I have a few Tdi and might do that also as a cheap upgrade

I drove it at a low boost (1.6 bar hold) because I still had the stock exhaust and a narrow downpipe, but it was okay. Spool was good and top end as well, but your mapper should know his thing, it has some issues with boost oscillatiation. Definitely worth the price, you can find them for a hundred bucks. What are you installing the VKLR on?

GTB2056VL is good up to 220-230bhp, not much more. I would use GTB2260VK if fueling side is HF80 or 11mm+0.280.

GTB2056VL flange

I draw a flange in Autocad to adapt the GTB2056VL to 1Z manifold 028263033Q. If you want it, I can send it to you by email.
