The crankcase of the 2.0l TDI BiTurbo is based on that of the mono-turbo engine,
which is cast in GJL-250. In order to ensure the best tribological characteristics with
low oil consumption and blow-by figures, the cylinder walls are honed with a torque
plate bolted to the cylinder head interface

Seems like vw finally has figured out that stress honing IS important :)

What advantage does that process do to the walls, make them harder wearing?:)

So I have been getting mixed information on the size of the drive gear on this engine. I have been told it is the same as that on the lower powered units, but in this one it says it spins the pump at half the cam speed. So is it 4x slower than the crank speed or is it still half the crank speed?

Same size gear, 2 pistons. Much like a V6 tdi pump.
So like when this was done earlier. So lets call them pistons 1 & 2, piston 1 being timed like the stock CP4.1 was. So piston 2 is only a compensating piston to keep the rail pressure upto the required 2500 bar or 36,750 psi. That is 700 bar more than the USA cr140s run or 10,290 psi. So putting this pump, rail, and lines on a CR140 could easily make the stock injectors out.

I'd use the proper injectors....but you could likely use the stock ones.
