Hi, I know the speed sensor in the transmission is what the cruise control uses. What I'm working on would require the ECM to receive how many pulses, to maintain a 1800 RPM? I'm sure I can get the correct number of pulses, somewhere using a tone wheel, and possibly a CPS or antilock wheel speed sensor. Anyone have an idea? Thanks, Artie

While Im not positive of what your set up is, you can use this and a universal vss pickup to run off of about anything.

Pretty much fools the ECU into thinking it's seeing the correct TDI speed/rpm/gear.

That's what I'm working on. And it's for a standby generator that needs the 1800 RPMs. If I knew the number of cycles, for 1800, I can go from there. I slept through math class. Thanks

This would use the ESS? Does the tach signal use the ESS?

Isn't ess engine speed? If so yes thats what drives your tach.

This little box takes tach signal, vss signal and a ground wire.

I'm not super familiar with the 1z but happens to reed that this was built to maintain rpm for applications like a generator. Or to put cruise control in your TDI swapped VW bus.

A quick email to David would let you know if this would be a simple solution to your issue.

Looking at the diagram pin 68 is your ECU tach signal for the 1z

This was the first reply that had this tach2vss. Thanks for this, Artie
