sent. Will see if we get a response referring to the specifics of the MAP. From what I read factory is 2.5, I’ve seen a 3.0 available. What other BAR rated MAPs are there for these engines?Reread my comment
I dont know if it is or is not factory. It is a VW sensor when you search it on GOOGLE you get a few different items but this one looks to be an upgraded to 4 BAR.You have the wrong MAP sensor for that turbo if it’s factory 2.5bar. He will know what sensor he tuned it for
Thanks for your help. You’ve given a lot of good input. I really appreciate it. I’ll get VCDS downloaded tomorrow (if Ross-tech) confirms my computer. And I guess I’ll have to wait for the connector to show up. Keep you guys postedOk, that sounds better. Get VCDS and run whatever logs he wants then before much else. He should probably see this thread @BustedBolts
you are exactly right. When it goes to limp mode, the actuator stays closed. When I get the dusky clear or reset the MAP, actuator goes back to open idle position.Hard saying, Nelson will know and probably figure it out quickly. I was leaning toward an electrical issue with the actuator because of the way it flipped position in your earlier photos. Kind of looked like it’s closing the vanes and staying there
I have been doing a ton of research on MAP sensors over the last day or so since I need to replace mine with a 3 bar since I upgraded my turbo. I'm sure someone may know better, but it sounds like the MAP sensor is either flakey or the tune was made thinking the car had a 3 bar map or something.sent. I ran the numbers in my MAP and according to what it interchanges to, I have a 4 bar installed in my truck.I have been doing a ton of research on MAP sensors over the last day or so since I need to replace mine with a 3 bar since I upgraded my turbo. VCDS logs should show this to the tuner, if it is the problem he should see it in the tune but be sure to mention that you have a 4 bar map installed and you want to make sure it's tuned for that. You don't want to just pick up a 3 bar to test this theory as a change to a different bar MAP could easily kill your turbo if the tune is written for it.
@Kramer these are pictures of my MAP and the interchange I located in Google. Problem I found is that most of the “aftermarket or upgrade” are Bosch which is going to be a different part number than VW. And the one installed on my engine is stamped VWI dont know if it is or is not factory.
