I am pretty sure I have read that a person can fit 15" rims on the mk6 Jetta as long as it isn't a gti?
Also interested what the maximum size tire diameter a person can fit on these cars.
I am looking at a set of 15" steel rims off a 2005 golf , and want to put new winter tires on them, the taller the better.

Any input is appreciated, thanks!

Kept the 15" steel wheels with snow tires mounted on them from our '99 Passat for the new Jetta. Mounted them on the Jetta a couple of weeks ago, and although there's less clearance between the caliper and the wheel, there's still plenty of clearance and nothing rubs.

Our Jetta has 205/55R16's on OE alloy rims, the snow tires are 195/65R15's. If you install snow tires that are much taller than your stock wheel/tire combination you'll need your speedo recalibrated most likely or at the very least your speedo would be way off. Take a look at Tirerack.com which has very good specs on tires, including width, OA diameter, Revs/mile to get an idea of what's available and what will likely fit. You may be limited in the tire sizes you can install on VW/Audi 15" steel wheels as well.

The spare is a 195/65R15 on a steel wheel even though the Comfortline comes fitted with 205/55R16 on alloys.

Here are the VW wheel specs:

195/65 R 15 H uses a 6J x 15” wheel: ET47
205/55 R 16 H uses a 6.5J x 16” wheel: ET50

Wheel bolt part number for steel and alloy wheels: WHT 001 812, M14 x 1.5 x 27

I went with the 195/65R15 winter tire package.

I might be wrong but I think the 2005 Golf wheels had a 5-100mm bolt pattern and the mk6 Jetta have a 5-112mm bolt pattern. 15" wheels from a 2006 or newer Jetta should fit your car.

15" snows on a 2013 Jetta

I ordered the winter alloy (Sima model) in 15 " for the 2013 Jetta because I had already bought Bliizzak's for my 04 that I sold. They look great but the car has a tendency to move around on the highway when its windy. Just like the 04 did. Otherwise the handling is superb.

THanks alot for the information fella's! like noted above the 2005 steel golf rims wont work as they are 100mm bolt pattern, glad to have found that out.
I can buy new steel rims for 45$ a piece and am going to go that route.

Now, in regards to size. I understand that a larger diameter tire will throw off the speedo a bit. BUt that doesn't concern me in the least.
Gearing will be slightly affected, but i doubt it will affect the tdi much due to the low end torque we are blessed with.
I drive on alot of unplowed roads commuting back and forth to work in storms, when the plows arn't on the road, everyone else's work/ businesses get shut down due to the storm. But since I am a paramedic we don't get storm days.
I am considering a 205/75 R15. it is a 27" diameter vs a stock 25" diameter. But only a 1" greater radius, and there appears to be lots of room in the wheel well for 1".
I know alot of you may think this is not a wise thing to do, but think about all the guys out there lowering their cars. They are essentially moving the tires higher into their wheel wells.
THe added height may reduce handeling, but snow means slow, I don't think it will be a big deal.

I am not 100 percent on this whole thing yet, but I drove to work this morning while it was snowing. I need to get winter tires first of the week.
ill be sure to post pics if I go with a larger then stock tire.

thanks!

i put the 205/65/15 nokian hak r on my old alh for 2 years and loved the raised ride as i travel well travelled gravel roads that create deep ruts and i need the extra height or else i keep and extra oil pan in the car lol, Not dragging as much snow with the front end is also another bonus, i moved these tires onto my brand new 13 jetta tdi i just purchased and ride is of the same quality i personally don't c a problem with it . As far as speedo difference and all that jazz im like you i will sacrifice that for the extra clearance i need , just my 2 cents, Ive also read in threads the tire size you mentioned in alot of other threads on here as well

First gear is too low anyways. I'm up at 3000 and hardly moving. Thats when I thought of the Alps and the need for a low 1st.

Don't just check wheel well clearance. Make sure the insides of the wheel/tire clear the suspension components.

Good point! I'll turn the steering wheel to full lock and do some looking around under there tonight!

I was thinking about the lower coil spring mounts. On some cars they stick out above the tire a tad.

At a glance I appear to have 1 3/4" to 2" clearance from the top of my stock tire to the lower coil spring seat/strut.

Now, I located a set of 15" aluminum vw rims. The add states they had previously been used on a 2006 passat. According to the info in the add they should work fine on my car.
But I can't seem to find any info online in regards to the 2006 passat ever coming with 15" rims. :$
Here is the link for the rims..
http://newbrunswick.kijiji.ca/c-car...ms-VW-ALUMINUM-15-OEM-RIMS-W0QQAdIdZ545737004
I can get these rims for 130$ and a 1 hour drive, and they would look a bit nicer then aftermarket steel rims.
Maybe someone who is more familiar with vw than I can identify what year vw these rims came off of.

Thank you!

Ask the seller what the offset is. That will be found cast into the back of one of the spokes (ET__). Probably fine, but it does not hurt to check.

Last week I bought Yokohama 195/65/15 winter tires mounted on 15-in alloy wheels for my 2012 Jetta TDI.

The wheels are RTX brand - Topaz model, and can be seen here on their web-site: -

http://www.rtxwheels.com/fr/roues/081052/2012%20-%20VOLKSWAGEN%20-%20JETTA%20-%20SAUF%20TDI%20%20%20GLI%20-%2015%20-%20ARGENT%20%20%20ULTRA%20ARGENT.

They are shown as specific to VW, and I was able to use the same mounting nuts as with my stock alloys.

So the answer is - yes you can mount 15-in wheels on our Jettas - but you have to be sure the particular model of wheel does fit.

i just picked up 15" stele wheels from passat. got 5 for 80$. i test fitted them on the car before payment and they were close to the brake calipers but enough space not to rub. 5x112. ill see if i can get some numbers of the rims..today i had tire shop put my michelin Xi-Xi2(they were on my Prius , YES i had one ) on the rims and will report after we get some snow in NY. tires are 195/65/15
btw those wheels were OEM passat wheels and got the hub caps with them too so its a good score.

I ended up getting the 15" aluminum rims. A friend told me recently that they came off a 98 passat in his opinion.
I ended up with a 205 65r15, about 0.5inches taller then the stock tires.

They fit well and help with ground clearance a bit. But I'll admit, they look goofy!

who cares what it looks like in the winter as long as you safe in it , and get home in one piece - id say thats the best look you can have .
and if they help you avoid one incident they are worth every penny.
if you look on rally race cars they never run 18 or 19" wheels and guys that race in snow use 15" rims with studded tires...there is a reason for it...

For sure! I don't really cAre what it looks like, as long as it works well!

I always buy studded tires to, makes a huge difference in certain conditions!

30cm of snow today, gonna give them a try:)

Wheels for snows

I went with wheels from a 1986-1988 Audi 5000 turbo Quattro for my snow tires on the 2010 Jetta tdi sedan. 45 offset 5x112 and 57.1 center Cost? Free since the Jetta replaced an Audi Quattro that was rear ended by an uninsured cell phone using driver with marginal brakes and worn tires.
