I tred to change the coding to enable the phone menu using the instructions from another thread (I forget now who came up with the directions), and ran into a problem. It seems that the module in my car is not the same as what was in his.

Module in instructions: 1Z0 035 729 C
Module 77 in my car 01 IK8 035 730 C Telefon H08660
The coding is 412100 with bits 0 and 6 checked.

I am thinking that mayb as long as I check the corect bits that it will work, but I've got nothing to go off of. There is one more digit in the coding value in the instuctions compared to the coding in my car. (412100 vs. 0011070 or 0000477)

I hitting the voice button or the phone button does nothing except mute the radio. Even the phone button on the RNS-510 does nothing, so I know something's not set up right.

I'm thiking I may have to ty "testing" some local dealers to see what they can do.

If anyone has any info I would lke to try making the change this week, as I cannot get to the dealer for at least a week and I do have time to mess with the car now.

I do have Vag-Com, with the proper CAN cable.

TIA!

I'm taking mine into the dealer tomorrow to look at this and hopefully enable most of the bluetooth functions. I can't make any calls from the steering wheel controls (no voice recognition tone when I push the button) or cluster (no phone menu). And I use Google voice so I need to push 1 when I get a call, which I also can't do. So I need to fumble for the phone to make or take a call right now anyway. The only thing it really adds is auto mute of the radio when I get a call. meh.

The poster in the other thread has a sedan. The sedans, as you've discovered, have a different bluetooth module with many more interactivity features.

'10 JSW bluetooth troubles

I have a 2010 JSW TDI with the RNS-510 Nav system. My phone is a motorola razr. I have been able to pair my phone and talk (only) hands free. I do not have a phone menu in the instrument cluster (MFI) as described in the manual. Nor have I been able to upload any contact/ phone book information. I can not make calls using voice commands or any function of the car. I have to open my phone and and dial the number from the phone then everything is "hands free". Also, the phone button on the nav system does nothing but mute the radio.

Is this what others are experiencing?

I guess this is because the bluetooth system is 9w2 and not the infamous highline 9w3. Its a real bummer that the bluetooth is crippled so much.

How can this problem be fixed??!!
Thanks.

Yeah that's how mine works too. The dealer told me it's working as designed, but wasn't sure why they still give us the highline BT manual which doesn't describe any of the functionality of our BT systems. It's pretty disappointing, especially since there's no option to upgrade to the other one, so far as I know.

The password is 0000, but you have to do another step to get the car to do it's step. I think it's just a matter of hitting the bigger button in the controls in the upper console.

Thank You getmore, I finally got it to pair and connected. I have to power down my device and power it back on before it can connect to the car's bluetooth

I had the same issue. Same as Macbarr, my dealer said that they installed the dumbed down version of bluetooth that doesn't allow programming of a phone book as the owner's manual indicates. You have to use the phone for calls & the phone button on the wheel can disconnect the call.

thanks meowguy, that is the thread I have been looking for!

So did you make the investment in upgrading to 9w3 and was it worth it?

The module is on order. I will post an update when installed and working properly. I am in the car 4 hours a day and the hands-free phone book is a must for me.

I will be waiting to hear how it goes as well. Just picked up a 2010 Jetta TDI sportswagen and realized it didn't have voice control.

I was looking at these videos and got really excited, should of actually read the posts which state 9W3 wasn't on my model.

Do you have a cost for the conversion?

The 9w3 modules are going for about $350 on eBay. And then you'll need a Vag-Com to code the vehicle.

My dealer, Prime in Saco, installed the 9W3 module today. Works like a charm.

The password for the SKODA_BT device is "1234". Took me a while to hack that.

Also, does anyone know how to delete entries from the RNS phone book?

What was your total cost (parts and labor) for the job?

I have a 2010 VW Jetta Sedan TDI purchased 9/4/09. I have the enhanced bluetooth module (no Navigation). On the day I bought the car my cell phone was paired successfully however according to the owner's manual I should be able to see incoming phone numbers on the touch screen display- I cannot. Also the MFD does not show a phone screen as the owner's manual states it should. Is this a coding issue? By the way, the bluetooth and voice command functions have stopped working and the car is currently at the dealership. They are ordering a new module for me. I am hoping that with the proper codes entered in the new bluetooth/voice command module I will be able to see the numbers of incoming calls. The dealer serviceman seems perplexed. Any thoughts?
