i have the pd130 asz ecu and the 16v BKD injectors do NOT run on this.
Starts good but after a minute goes into a rough idle with no pedal response.
fault codes: implausible signal from injectors..
still trying to figure out how to solve this.

Its unfortunate all that work, and stuck on a nuisance detail. Did you read X@V s post about getting the camshaft and crankshaft sensors, approx. where they were on the 8V engine. If the ECU is getting the correct signals, it should run.

Can someone tell us what pistons are used in this asz to bkd projects and what changes are made to the pistons?

U have to use the BKD pistons. no modifications to the pistons.
but you have to bore the block to the 2.0 size
but beware. there is also some adjustment in the engine software that needs to be done.
So you better find someone first that can help you with that.

Will someone help a bit with this software changes that are needed to run BKD head with ASZ ecu?

you must use the camshaft gear wheel from the asz. Because you are using the asz ecu.

And for the ecu software adjustment, you can check with: tdtuning.com

ok, no replies.
But i figured out how to solve the problem with the alternator bracket.
Just use upper part of the golf V bracket and lower part of the mk4 bracket. (split between the alternator upper and lower bolts)

Did that allow you to run the AC? What size serppentine belt?

Hi guys if some one could help me!?!!
I have a bkd head
1.9 pd bottom end
Pd crank and rods
Bkd pistons (block is bored to suit)
I have used the pd crank sensor
Car will not start!
Mapper has put it down to the crank sensor
Anyone know if I can adapt bkd crank sensor to work on pd block!?
But wanted to ask can any of you guys help thanks!

Is the car edc15 or edc16?

if edc16 just cut a hole in the block at the front so you can use the oil seal with integrated hall sensor. It is a bit tricky to mount the ring in the correct place on the crank, there a overly complex VW tool for it but if you buy a new seal there is a plastic clip holding the ring at TDC

Hi mate thanks for the reply

it’s a 2002 golf gttdi
And the bkd engine I have used parts off was just out of a mk5 golf

I’m buying another ecu shortly as the one I had has been damaged

do I need a edc16 ecu then?

yes, the AC is running normal.
same serp belt as stock mk4.
hi mate with this conversion

can I use mk4 engine loom
Mk5 ecu
Mk4 throttle peddle

I’ve adapted the injector wiring harness to fit into the mk4 engine harness

mk5 ecu will plug into mk4 car/engine loom?

I want to bore out AJM block to 2.0? I will use pistons from 2.0 TDI 8V BMM engine. But what about connecting rods, crankshaft and bearings?
Can AJM crankshaft stay? Which conrod bearings should I use 1.9 or 2.0?

Why would you do that?

This is a bad idea. AJM is a lot weaker than the ASZ / ARL, so I recommend finding one of those first

Thanks

I completed AJM block with 2.0 TDI 8V pistons and PD130/150 internals. Also I put SDI camshaft from 2.0 PD SDI engine. When I try to crank, it throws P0321 Engine speed sensor G28 - implausible signal, which is Crankshaft sensor related. It is old type sensor with hole in engine block. Timing is perfect, tried 2 Crankshaft sensors, another starter. Is there anything else to try?

While having 16v head îs a novelty, I reckon it’s too much of a faffle to build a pd engine like that just for the minimal displacement increase. One will do better going to a 2.0 8v Bmm motor or the like.

I much prefer a 1.9 tdi ASZ for simplicity sake as torque increase is not what I seek from going to a 2.0 tdi.

A built ASZ/ARL will do 400 Bhp without drugs on pretty much stock bottom end, you can add cheap forged rods for peace of mind !

I would save more for a decent size turbo from this decade and good, balanced injectors. Choose injectors wisely as the larger you go 4 the more smoke on idle you get due to poor atomisation !

AJM is still a strong engine and will benefit from using the SDI cam- helps spool larger turbos !

I have rebuilt a few b5 tdi Quattro with the AJM engine however I used AWX/AVF pistons with AJM rods- I was constrained by keeping the original engine block due to homologation issues. They go really well with AL injectors (ASZ/ARL engine), bv43a hybrid turbo and good remap !
