My front wipers will not turn on. I checked the rear wiper and it does come on and also will spray the wash.BUT when i turn on the front wipers nothing happens. The front washer will not spray either. Can someone please point me where to start on the trouble shooting. Is there a separate fuse for the front wipers???thanks.....

Make certain that your hood is closed. You might try opening it and closing it to ensure the switch senses a closure.

Don't have a 2009 but have you tried the manual?

From my new Bentley manual on page 92-2:
"The wiper motor (V216) is integrated with the wiper motor control module (J400). The wiper and washer systems are controlled by the vehicle electrical system control module (J519) with has On Board Diagnostics capability. If malfunctions occur in monitored components, the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored in a module memory. Uses the Volkswagen scan tool or equivalent to troubleshoot the wiper and washer system."

Wipers do not operate if the engine hood is open.

I hope that helps. It does not talk much more about it here except under codes...but with none I do not want type them all out.

Thanks all for the help. I re-opened the hood and closed it again and that solved the problem. I take i didn't closed it hard enough the first time......

Too bad you can't add a "problem solved" to the title of this thread. I never knew the hood switch/wiper operation connection existed!

On a Touareg if the radio is not pushed in all the way the wipers will not work either.
