Does anyone know if the 09 JSW has any audio auxiliary input ports...beside the Ipod dock?
You will either get the iPod dock or an AUX jack (3.5mm stereo phono plug) in the armrest (but not both).

why would they do things so differently between the sedan and the JSW?
The sedan has BOTH the AUX jack (on the outside of the arm rest) as well as the IPOD or what ever (USB) adapter (on the inside of the arm rest) you choose to use.

Why wouldn't they install the samme thing?
Weird.

I bet they do and my info is incorrect. I thought I had read that we get one or the other but not both (since the iPod dock occupies the center console). I even read about folks with the iPod dock trying to trade it for a stock center console to get an AUX port -- weird.

pecosrunner, since TDIMOFO has the iPod dock, I would trust his info over mine -- I'm sure they are the same in the sedan and the wagen.

JSWs are one or the other. No idea why. Getting the iPod dock was the only thing I regret about my car order.

Time out, MOFO. My sedan has only the AUX jack (on the inside of the arm rest). But, of course, mine is the '08-style '09 (if ya know what I mean...a low build-number demo).

I am wondering the same. As far as I have seen I only have the Ipod inside the armrest w/ no Aux. Maybe Mofo has a special edition? Anyone else have both?

I believe you have been misinformed. To my understanding, the sedans either have an iPod Dock or an Aux input. My sedan has an Aux input in the same place the iPod dock would be.

Mine also only has the aux where the ipod would be.

I looked at 7 or 8 on the lot when I got mine and they all had only aux in.

Mine is a sedan so just confirming that at least some of them were one or the other.

All i have in my sedan is the aux input.... perhaps a difference between comfortline and highline?

I believe if you have an iPod connection it deletes the 3.5 mm aux input. If you get the NAV system however I think you get a media card reader.

So you have a aux-in, USB AND iPod dock? Wha?? 3 inputs?
no two inputs.

One is the aux

the other is the multimedia connector that you buy a connecter that connect the ipod OR a USB. The USB come standard with the car.

I'll take a pic in a sec.

Maybe I'm confusing it. I'm new to the VW thing. When searching the forum I was trying to figure out how to hook my ipod/iphone to my 09 TDI JSW.

In pic, you can see the aux connector and then to the right the "media in" plug with the different cables you can plug into it.

Originally, I thought I had to buy that dock thing. After searching and calling Bud at the VW place in Virginia? I think. He verified that all I needed was just the IPOD cable. The media-->usb comes standard.

I can see playlist and songs on the display.

Yeah, he has something different than we're all talking about.
Agreed -- it's good to see a photo of what MOFO was talking about, though. I would love a USB hookup. Shame that it costs thousands and the satellite module can't be changed to XM. :(

wonder if there is a way to get a usb hub and wire it in somehow.... been thinking of that so the blackberry and gps and mp3 player can be hooked up and charging without having a ton of wires in the ashtray.

Yeah, I just finished my Kenwood DVD/Nav (Garmin)/Sirius/iPod install tonight. $1000 and totally expandable, and even a dunce like me can install it!
