My daughter was trying to roll window down and I was trying to roll it up from the driver switch. It quit working all together. I checked all wires to the door. The door is getting power to lights and door lock button but no power to passenger window switch and will not go up or down from driver switch or passenger switch or key lock. WHat do I check next?

Try unhooking your battery ground lead for a while and touching the plus and minus cables to each other. Battery cable unhooked from the battery, of course.

On my 2006, the passenger window quit working, and when I replaced the regulator, I plugged in the old non functioning regulator and it worked just fine. But still, I had a brand new regulator so I went ahead and install it to prevent future problems.

Fixed it. I took off door panel and disconnected and reconnected the harness that plugs into the window motor and it started working again. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Ya, mine seemed to react the same way with the old regulator. The digital control that these thing have, does seem to get confused some times. I probably wasted my money on replacing my passenger regulator because it seemed to work fine after being unplugged for a while.

Passenger window stopped working

Thanks to the help above, unplugging and re-plugging the motor fixed it. In answer to the code question, I did a VCDS scan, and the answer is yes:

I cleared the code after it started working again, and it's staying off.

Same thing happened to me a week ago. Same symptoms. Problem was that the window was stuck all the way down. I pulled the door skin and part of interior and couldn't figure it out. Also tried to look at the harness the best could.

I actually had the local dealer look at it (I know, blasphemy) and ,just like the OP, it was the connector in the door. They cleaned up the connectors and reseated everything and it has been fine since. Only charged me an hour of labor.

I did try the battery trick, no joy. I would have kept digging on my own but when it happened I was very pressed for time and just needed it fixed. That is happening more and more these days...

Similar problem?

So, it seems from this thread that folks are finding that unplugging the window regulator and controller inside the door can sometimes fix an window that won't go up? So this is separate from the common door wiring harness problem apparently? I had a similar problem just a few days ago while on a road trip - drivers window went down as normal and minutes later would not go up no matter what I did. I stopped on the side of the road and disconnected the battery for several minutes (didn't short the leads however), and restarted and the window was still stuck down. No noises or clicking or anything. I tried at that time to wiggle the wires in the rubber cover from the door to the car and that had no apparent effect. I started driving again (obviously not enjoying the heat in 97 deg Texas weather with the window down), and a few minutes later tried the button again and it worked!! No idea why it suddenly started working again.

Since then I have pulled back the rubber cover on the wires in the door hinge area and best I can tell all the wires look fine. I see no breaks or even worn areas like others have seen.

The only other symptom I saw was a couple of days before the window stopped working and was stuck down, I noticed that that same drivers window mysteriously lost its auto up/down set points and I had to reset them. They worked afterwards, up until the the problem on the road trip.

So what do folks think?

I think your problem is a separate problem. I have a problem for about two years with the wiring at the hinge in my driver door, and in the last couple weeks I've recently developed a problem with the passenger window not going up. I'm assuming the two issues are separate, and I'm going to attempt the unplug/plug method on my passenger window motor today. I'll see how it goes.
