Hi there , first post here so greetings to everyone . As the title states I have my 06 Jetta TDI family car that has been giving me this persistent issue … P0299 . Car feels extremely sluggish, rolls coal and is borderline dangerous to drive.

Prior to this issue the car was driving perfectly fine until one day I drove it and pushed on it pretty hard . Out of nowhere loud explosion under the hood and CEL. I assumed boost pipe but never got the chance to check it out myself .but Family decided to take it to an ‘experienced’ german mechanic in San Antonio that replaced the turbo and N75 valve which did not solve the issue.

I will be doing a boost leak test soon but am I missing something here? what else could cause this? thanks.

Check the boost hose at the left front by the radiator, and pop it back in. Make sure it snaps in good.

Did a visual inspection of all the intercooler pipes under the hood as well as under the car and everything seems to be in order . All seals on piping look good.. I couldn’t get to the rear intercooler pipe under the car so maybe the leak is there. Hopefully boost pressure test will give me a sure answer

UPDATE: I got to the rear intercooler pipe .. Noticing a big oil leak back there which leads me to believe the issue lies there.

Oil leaking on the back of the engine is pretty common. Check the heater hoses as well. They like to get oil soaked and leak.

does anybody know ant reputable TDI mechanics in the San Antonio area? I’m simply intimidated diagnosing the issue.. I didn’t mention earlier but it is not only P0299 but P0101. 102K miles on the dash
