I'm wondering if I can run bio-diesel in my pumpe duse (PD) engine without any ill effects ? My idea is to convert WVO into bio-diesel.

My car has 42-43k on it at the moment.

I'm in the process of taking a new job that's going to be an 160+ mile (round trip). This will be a 5-day a week job and I'm wanting to do anything I can to save $$.

I know the intial investment would be somewhat expensive, but I've been looking at one of these,..... http://www.cascadebiodiesel.com/products.php

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to consider what this:

and this:

I built it all in a day for about $700 and that was buying a new water heater and getting the wash drum free at a car wash. You can assemble all those parts yourself and save more than I did. But I found the kit convenient and the support from Graydon Blair, the owner, to be fantastic.
I make 40 gallon batches of great B100.

Some would say that this is safer too.

Good luck in your venture and let us know how you are doing!

Hi Copperhead,

I also have a 04 TDI which has been fed a steady diet of homebrew for the last 22K miles with no ill effects. Do yourself a favor and google 'infopop biodiesel' which will take you to the infopop forums. Learn how to make high quality fuel. Getting set up does not have to be that expensive. The fuel meister is a rip off. You can make you own processor/wash tank/dry tank for about $500. I've been making fuel in a steel 55 gal drum for 2 years now. It's not that hard. The guy who owns Utah Biodiesel from the links posted above also contributes to the infopop forums.

I'd be glad to help with advice and tips. Let me know.
All the best.

Don't waste your money on the FuelMister. You can build an appleseed much cheaper. Then do alot of reading, and start making your own fuel.

Be sure you are well informed on using and making biodiesel.

See my web site www.itsgood4.us for a summary of biodiesel Q&A.

I recommend you get a copy of Biodiesel Basics and Beyond by Willam Kemp. It is the best single resource on making your own biodiesel.

My daugter has a 2005 PD and runs B100 all summer long.
