My 03 wagon is acting funny. When I leave work I climb 500 ft in 3 miles. Then i get on the highway, where for the first 4 miles the torque converter doesn't lock. at mile 4 i finally get an extended downhill, and the torque converter locks and stays locked for the rest of the drive, including several substantials hills.

The car is also exhibiting a "limp mode" symptom occasionally, only its not quite what I would call limp mode.

Any Ideas ? ? ?

for anybody who knows Central VT. I'm getting on the highway at exit 4 and off at exit 7

I used to have an 01M auto, and these symptoms sound familiar. I didn't bother trying to fix my automatic, but that is beside the point.

Your first step might be to scan for fault codes. Vag com/VCDS (not sure of current correct name) is probably the best tool for retrieving fault codes.
