My '03 Jetta wagon is due for it's 200k maintenance soon and I have been reading up on what all needs to be changed for the timing belt. The original belt was replaced at 100k so this will be the 2nd change.

I know I need all the regular parts for the high mileage timing belt change but am very confused what else needs to be done now that I'm at the 200k mark. My Bentley manual doesn't go that high and I haven't found specifics searching around the forum. idparts, boraparts, kermatdi and fixmyvw all sell good kits but with optional extras.

Can someone outline what I should replace?

id be doing the accessory belt and tensioner, and at minimum check all the rollers and such associated with it.

To add on to what Rembrant said, I also would go ahead and drain/flush your existing coolant. You'll have most of the system empty when you pull the water pump anyways

Good, clean, fresh coolant makes heater cores last forever

Check cam, lifters and front main seal while you are in there.
