02 jetta tdi smoke and slow start

I have a 02 jetta and every time i start it it smokes white smoke and cranks for like a minute then starts. I dont know what it is. I was told it was injectors. Idk. But the fuel feed and return hoses are cracked but not leaking.

Could be the fuel system letting air in, could be injection timing is too far retarded, could be low compression.
