Hey guys, I figured I would post here before posting in the for sale category.

My '02 has died (turbo and motor). Looking for early takers on the car/parts. Not sure if I want to part it out or not - is it worth the hassle.

The car has 600,460km so lots of miles, but the car was in good working condition except for the turbo....

Thoughts or offers? Should I just send it to the car crusher....

RoboCop and I are still in the process of selling parts from a jetta and he made his money back plus some and I, (his mechanic for the project) have made a few hundred out of it too.. also had some fun. If you have the time you should part it out!

I don't think it should go to the crusher. I think after 600,460 kms there should at least be a proper wake, visiting hours or something to honor its memory! haha

First of all - sorry to hear about your car. but 600k km's is amazing longevity...

Secondly - if you do decide to part it out, let me know as there's a few items I may be interested in, depending on price / age of parts....

just curious if you've still got the car to part out?

b/c I lost 5th gear in my tranny yesterday...:(
I seem to recall that Cleaver's got an auto. He'll chime in here shortly. If he does, pm Silverbox. He's in Halifax I think I remember him talking about selling his tranny. I could be wrong but it'd be worth asking.

I have a 5-speed, but I haven't been able to look at my car yet. I am hoping to have it towed home in the next couple weeks so I can figure out what has actually failed, and what I want to scavenge for my new-to-me '01 TDI. Most likely I won't be selling much for the next couple months as I have a lot on my plate.

Settles has an '03 w/ 225k on it for $400. I did a search of junkyards in NS and that was the best they have too. Said it might be repairable but I may just go for the used one anyway since 1st gear synchro has been shot in mine since I bought the car....Well see what they say though if it's salvagable or not.

Plus I can't help but think there's a bunch of metal flakes in there now so it's just a matter of time before they cause other issues...

Are you still looking to part out your '01?

I'm looking for heated seat (back in mine is gone), and belly pan splash shield, oh, and door lock cylinder....

I got a plastic belly pan off my 99.5 hanging on the wall in my shop. If you want it, its yours. Of course my shop is in PEI.
