I have been told that car "bras" rub off the paint. Is this true anyone?

This is the first bra I've put on my 8 cars that I've owned so I can't say from first hand. But I have heard that yes they do rub off some paint in key areas and no they don't. But after having the car for 2 weeks driving at 70mph on I-95 through Miami I got two Pretty significant Knicks from flying debris. I decided the best case of those two scenarios (maybe rubbing off some paint within 5 years or getting two dings in the front facia in two weeks) was to buy the bra. I have heard from people that it usually only causes paint rub if it's 1. poor fitting. and 2. If you live where you drive through alot of dust and dirt ie. rural areas. So since neither of those apply to me I went with the bra. And one of my major decisions in this was that for the past 8 months they have been removing concrete from I-95 for the repaving project to be completed late this year. There are just too many rocks on the road and stuck in peoples tires flying loose at highway speeds.
