Howdy all!
This is my 1st post and new member as of today, so if I do something stupid, please go easy on me… Granted I am 52, but I’m new to the whole forum thing, So on that note, I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place, not to mention confused..
Also, to get ahead of this, I did read the other thread where the guy changed his Booster thinking that was the issue… not sure I would’ve gone that route for a brake light, but at least it was ruled out…
He did adjust his booster
Pushrod, but a few members had said it would’ve been easier and faster to adjust the switch…. The one you’ll read about causing me problems…

The reason for my state of confusion, is because where every photo, video, thread or blog I’ve come across, where the Brake Light Plunger style switch is SUPPOSED to be….. there just isn’t one?! In fact, I honestly turned into a 200lb contortionist upside down, with the back of my head to the floor and half stuck under the brake pedal to get a look at the entire length of the pedal arm, and as far as I could see, there isn’t Anything attached to the Brake pedal at all?!
So, does that mean it has a Hydraulic activated pressure switch somewhere?
What’s also crazy to me, is when I’m in the shop, completely dark, turn on the key, headlights on, and I tap on the brake pedal, the taillights DO “flicker”, but not noticeably, at least not enough to be effective…. By the term “flicker”, I mean the lights are brake bright, and by tapping on the pedal, they don’t change brightness, but to me, it’s just barely noticeable, but noticeable enough to be confident that there IS some kind of pedal input…. If that makes any sense….
It’s maybe a fraction of a Millisecond flicker, each time I tap the pedal…

Any ideas? Thoughts?!
ANYthing would be greatly appreciated!!

The brake light switch is on the master cylinder and uses a proximity type actuation system. You could do some things with VCDS if you have it or just change that switch.

Ahh HA! Okay Fantastic!!
Thanks for that tip!! Unfortunately I don’t have a VCDS, but I might just know someone who does….

So, after doing a bit of looking around, and from what I’m actually able to put eyes on without tearing half the engine bay apart, I took a couple pictures of what/ where I’m guessing it might be…. I also found a picture of a new one, although I can’t fully see the one on the M/C because it’s so buried, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed this is what I’m looking for…

Okay, I have no clue how to add a picture, but what I found, has a 4-pin outlet/plug, the plug is at a right angle to the potted electronics, and it’s only got one hole in it to mount it…. Does that sound about right to you?
It boggles my mind how every time I try to look up a brake light switch for this thing, it comes up with the standard plunger type, and even worse that I don’t have one to replace! lol At least not the one on the pedal arm itself anyway…. Thanks again!!

If you go to rockauto.com and do a search for CENTRIC 13033433 you’ll see a picture of it. it’s the black plastic thing on the master cylinder.
