Why do people think power mods automatically lead to lower MPGs? I could understand on a gas engine, but not a diesel throttled by fuel. The easier you make it to pump air and the colder the air, the less energy it takes to rotate the engine.

Drove 2001 a long time with the stock clutch and a tune. When you feel the clutch slip, get off the go peddle. Most likely it will only slip in 4th and 5th gear and you will still be able to use all your power in the lower gears.

I would not use the 5w30 in your PD. Some may argue, but I see no problem mixing different brands, but I wouldn't mix weights and I would not put 5w30 in a PD.
