i had a noise like that on my golf. then it later also started to make a roaring noise when i was turning at >30mph. it was the wheel bearings in my car.

not the bulbs themselves since they still see the same current...just whatever drives them...meh...you're probably right - i should have better things to worry about :-)

doesn't this mod double the current drawn from whatever drives the brake lights? couldn't this conceivably wear something out faster?

I had the recall fixed a while ago...turns out it was just the bulbs. everything seems to be working ok. i didn't think bulbs would go out so fast. it's only a 2006 with 50k miles.

My brake lights in my '06 Golf are behaving strangely....they do not work at all when the engine is off. When the engine is on, the rear window light works but the 2 side lights do not. The window light stays on constantly but only faintly at the edges while the car is running. Any ideas?
