Ontgolf, Unless you can remedy the situation by altering the manner and timing of your acceleration, I would not hesitate to let VW check out your transmission. The auto in my NB is very smooth when it shifts--up or down. I only wish that the auto was a 5-speed.

BUG*PWR, Thanks for the data. From what I know about the abundant torque at cruise speed, it looks like the manual needs a sixth gear and the automatic needs a fifth gear. I would like to see about 2200 rpm at 70 mph. It feels like my engine would be comfortable there. Seth
