Is it true that my car will go into limp mode if I just do a egr delete I have 450k so I would like to clean my egr or maybe even delete it but the shop is quoting me 1350 because they have to flash the ecm is this necessary

Hey. I live in Alberta Canada and it’s in god awful trying to start my 06 Jetta with the 1.9 Tdi just wondering what can help it took me 8 minutes of cranking and cycling plugs to start it’s gets to around -30 and it hates it anything helps please it’s making me crazy
