Bummer that Kim can't ship. I suppose you could ship the whole car out and come visit for a while, but...that would be ridiculously expensive. Surely there has to be a transmission rebuilder someplace closer to you? Maybe post in a different thread looking for transmission shop recommendations...
I think this is much too far for you, but for general sharing in the group, Coliseum Transmissions rebuilt mine. Formerly in Oakland, now in San Leandro, CA. Owner-mechanic is Kim. Great guy who really loves and takes pride in his work...

Avoid Auto Alpina and do not even remotely contemplate Berkeley Auto Service.
I know this is way out of your way, but I highly recommend Griffin Motorwerke in Berkeley: https://www.g-werke.com/ Danny and Curly are skillful mechanics. I've posted about them before.
Very long overdue follow-up post: Griffin did their best to try to get my IP going without having to rebuild/replace the whole thing, but in the end, it was too badly rusted and pitted via contaminated biofuel (my first and last bad experience after running nothing but B99 for the last 8 yrs). I...
Does anyone have experience with RD from either this place in San Leandro: https://lubeoil.com/renewable-diesel/ or any of the 76 stations that carry it? https://www.76.com/renewable-diesel
Hi Mogly,
I am in the process of testing out an 11mm IP from another forum member. If that doesn't work out, and you haven't yet sold yours, I'll reach back out to you. How many miles does yours have on it, and what year / model?
Thanks a lot,
Josh
Seeking a healthy 11m injection pump for my 2001 Golf TDI with automatic transmission. I'm in Oakland, CA, would prefer to find something local. Can also take a 10mm, but 11mm preferred. Thank you!
One more attempt: The manual IP I was given turned out not to work, either. At this point, I'd be thrilled to receive a working pump for a reasonable price in either 11m or 10mm. Please let me know if you have any leads. Thanks.
My car is *still* at Griffin...long story. So far I'm happy w/how they are handling things, will give the fuller story when the saga is thru.
I went to Albert at European once. I found him honest and direct and very knowledgeable. However, his hourly rate (like Griffin's and Tomas') is quite...
I've had no luck finding an inexpensive 11m IP for my automatic 2001 Golf TDI, but have been offered multiple 10mm pumps. I've learned it's possible to install a 10mm IP in an automatic, so long as one also switches the injector nozzles to the larger .184 gauge. (The automatics come with smaller...
Thanks for both the lead and the warning. BTW, I've now been offered 2 pumps, but they were both for manual transmission. My 2001 Golf is automatic. If anyone is interested in swapping a manual for an automatic, please let me know.
