DIY: DSG Transmission scheduled maintenance (40K miles interval)

Color is not an indicator of the chemical capabilities of the oil. The only true way to know is through oil analysis. I changed mine at 5k & 35k (first service by Audi). The difference that I noticed was that the filter was clearly a different color and not just from the fluid. I am still...

NHTSA Update on CR HPFP failure investigation

I cannot speak to all that you have written. I only know that this is the supplier http://www.southernstates.com/articles/hf/dieselfuel.aspx "Super Gold Premium Diesel Fuel"

NHTSA Update on CR HPFP failure investigation

I have been meaning to ask about this. I was lucky and found a Southern States that rotates its Diesel tanks at least three (3) times a week as my primary fill location. My back-up is a Sunoco Truck stop. When we travel, only fill-up at Large Truck stops. My 2002 and newer Diesels has had a...

NHTSA Update on CR HPFP failure investigation

Wasn't the Jeep Liberty a CR? That would be in service prior to the VW CR.

NHTSA Update on CR HPFP failure investigation

Thank you for the numbers. However, in total units sold, what do the numbers equate to? Still trying to understand just how severe this problem is. As an analogy, I have been told that due to the high concentration of termites in VA, it is not if you will get attacked but when you will get...

NHTSA Update on CR HPFP failure investigation

I have a 2009 CBEA with a build date of 06.09. With 14500. I will change the filter at 15K just like the Audi. I have a 2010 CBEA with a build date of 09.09. With 19600. Audi changed the filter at 15K then 20K there after. My local VW Dealer has not had an instance of a HPFP failure. My...

NHTSA Update on CR HPFP failure investigation

FYI ... I called VWoA about a change for the Fuel Filter replacement interval. I have an A3 with a CBEA. Audi released a bulletin that has the first change at 15K then 20K there after. VW still has the 20K interval. The reason told to me by the care specialist was that they did not want a...

    Amsoil In this Thread only

That is all well and good. I will contact SwRI to get some information on the Test Stand. However, the AEL, states "Recommended for the extended drain intervals established by the vehicle manufacturer. Change oil filter at time of oil change." That is the OCI...

    WTB: PD in-tank lift pump

Just replaced one on my PD. Impex was the lowest price I found shipped. Also DO the mod for this thing to work when the pump fails. It put my car out of operation due to the lack of fuel.

    Amsoil In this Thread only

Just finished the Nov '10 article from Dan Peterson and a review of the AEL Brochure. I continue to be concerned about the Amsoil professing an equivalency to 507.00. I get the chemical compostion aspect but I am just not seeing the thrashing that occurs from VW to get on the approved list...

2005 BEW PD lift pump operation and internals

I have the stopped while driving problem with my PD. Car is currently in Southern NY. No TDI Guru's in the area. Dennis (Marquette Auto) is the closest. I did not get a VCDS scan nor any other info other that no fuel pressure from the garage that diagnosed the problem. I have a new lift...

Clarification request, VW oil spec hierarchy (without sales flackery)

While I picked AmsOil, my comments are actually focused on US Motor Oil products that do not appear on the VW "approved" list. I have been known to stray at times but I do read the OP in an attempt to make my comments relevant. As many of the much smarter than I make recommendations to those...

Clarification request, VW oil spec hierarchy (without sales flackery)

Well, I did look at the link and unless you have been with AmsOil since (using 1979, dealer late 80's), I have been with them longer! For me, I just do not believe! Chemistry alone does not an oil make! Empirical data makes me a believer. When empirical data is not enough, practical testing...

Clarification request, VW oil spec hierarchy (without sales flackery)

I have to ask! How does AmsOil test to meet the 507.00 or any other spec oil from VW? I have read the test that VW performs to have the oil make the approved list and while I know that AmsOil is independently tested, I have not read any literature that indicates AmsOil tests to the...

    New Engine Break In

It is important to remember that VW and any other vehicle manufacturer (cars, trucks, motorcycles, motorhome, tractor trailer, etc) are in the business of selling vehicles, period! They make the vehicle last just long enough for the majority of the purchasers to believe that value was obtained...
