I was going to say this sounds like the EGR is giving issues. Probably partially clogged. I just had my 2011 A3 go through full Rawtek "weight reduction", Malone Stage 2 and DSG tune. I could not be happier

I had this update done to my 2014 Q7 and it actually helped restore some of the lost fuel economy and also gave back some power. If you haven't had it done, I would recommend getting an appointment.

All the 2.0L TDI cars sold in the US came with a 14.6 gallon fuel tank. You can fill up the neck and manage extra fuel, but the tank itself is 14.6 (US) gallons. Currently I've got a 2011 A3 and previously had a 2009 JSW, but had the same tank capacity.

With the Malone Stage 1/Stage 2, does that eliminate the need for the DEF fluid? Assuming you don't delete the downpipe.

Here are a few shots of my 2009 TDI SportWagen. Currently it has 18" Audi S-Line (Caressa) Wheels, 20% Tint, GLI Grills and OEM Projector Fogs.

I've used Yakima for years with no issues...but Thule are good as well. I guess it comes down to personal preference. But, honestly, you aren't going to have any problems with either one you choose. They are both good products.
