We got one of these (DSG, MY2018) too as a replacement to our 2011 Jetta TDI (DSG) buyback.
The GSW has better insurance rate group than our previous TDI so our insurance premiums went down a bit after the replacement.

... And 2 day ago was the buyback day for our TDI (Buyback with trade-in)! Our TDI had a MIL on, tailpipe full of carbon, DPF likely cracked.
We just got a 2018 4motion DSG Comfortline as the replacement/ It has leatherette seats and a panoramic sunroof (Not available in USA). We didn't get the...
In Canada, if we choose buyback we might get $11,600 + $5,100 = $16,700.
So I personally would go for emission modification when the approval reaches Canada, but that depends on how my parents (especially my mom) want to do.
Let's assume the fix will decrease fuel specific range by 2 MPG regardless of conditions, what's your pre-fix MPG?
Old MPG -> new MPG (old Gal/100mi -> new Gal/100mi): Fuel consumption increase in Gallons per 100 miles
50 -> 48 ( 2.00 -> 2.08 ): 0.08
49 -> 47 ( 2.04 -> 2.13 ): 0.09
48 -> 46...
From the 2nd amended concent decree section 3.1.5, the fuel economy impact are compared between:
-A: Before the emission modification, without the 23O6 reflash, and not in cheat (dyno) mode
-B: After the emission modification
Looks like VW is definitely as hard as they can to spare the Gen 1's from the crusher, as the Gen 1 represents the majority among all the dieselgate TDIs.
Page 17 of 3rd status report:
Gen 1 Perposed Emission Modification was submitted on 2017-01-25 and is still "Pending/ testing ongoing" after 5 months.
No submission of supplemental materials since then.
Not likely ever going to get approved.
EPA MPG ratings are rounded to the nearest integer. For instance, a vehicle's rated 16 MPG under a certain condition could be somewhere between 15.50 and 16.49 MPG.

I mean the percentage of fuel consumption increase (L/100 km or Gal/100 mi) of AWD vs FWD versions of the same car. (Preferably the same engine/transmission if possible, but that's not the case for GSW).
Can also be calculated by FWD MPG / AWD MPG - 1.
For most gasoline cars, AWD fuel...
According to the EPA data files, the AWD (4motion) GSW burns:
+14.5% more fuel in city
+15.3% more fuel on highway
Compared to the FWD GSW. (calculated fron "City Unrd Adj FE - Conventional Fuel" and "Hwy Unrd Adj FE - Conventional Fuel" columns)
For 2017 Mazda CX-5, AWD vs FWD:
+6.4% on...
This is what I see from the article's torque curves:
VW Passat Alltrack: Engine must operate at higher RPMs.
Skoda Yeti: Engine must operate at higher RPMs. More power at higher RPMs.
Audi Q5: Available power increased below 2,400 RPM / Available power decreased after 2400 RPM. Peak power and...
According to Car and Driver's Lightning Lap at Virginia International Raceway, the 2012 GLI is 8 seconds slower per lap than the 2010 and 2015 GTI.
It is 10.4 seconds faster per lap than a 2015 Honda Fit.
According to them:
-GTI had summer tires and the GLI has all-season tires
-The GLI's...
Our family (particularly my mom) is looking forward to a car that has:
-Hatchback
-Sunroof
-Cheap to insure
So we plan to go for a buyback of our TDI when the Canadian settlement eventually gets approved.
One of our candidinates for our replacement would be:
GSW FWD Comfortline with...
