Anyone try the emission upgrade yet?

I stand corrected, I have not checked the FAQ since the decree was approved. Good news for owners who keep the cars. It probably would. I do have a friend who is into Fox Mustangs. He supercharges them. -

Buyback COMPLETED Car is now in Dealership Lot

Our turn in was Thursday afternoon. I arrived a half hour before and waited for the wife who was bringing the TDI. When she arrived a couple of salesmen greeted her before I could get over to her. This whole buyback process has annoyed her and the salesmen just finished it for her. After...

Anyone try the emission upgrade yet?

If a fix is not available California will indeed not bar an "unfixed" TDI from the road. If a fix is available it will be considered a recall and affected Californians will have to get it done as a requirement for registration. Just like the 2306 update was required before our car could be...

    Notary Rejected - California

To be clear, on page 7 we signed and dated that page in the presence of the notary. She then ran a diagonal line through the "witness" section and at the bottom of the line was where she wrote "see attached" Because the better half's name and mine are on the title there are two places to sign...

Buyback COMPLETED Car is now in Dealership Lot

Ours has not been returned yet but we both will be there. How else am I going to get a ride home? We plan to stop about 5 minutes away from the dealership at the bank and deposit the check.

    Notary Rejected - California

When ours was done a couple of weeks ago the notary would not sign the VW supplied page either. She lined out the sections on their page and added "see attached" to them. She pulled out a pad of California All-Purpose Acknowledgment forms which she filled out, stamped, and signed. In the...

Buyback COMPLETED Car is now in Dealership Lot

Thanks for blazing a trail the rest of us will be following. Our turn is on the 1st at 1 PM. The wife received a phone call from our dealership today confirming our buyback time. They also chatted about the loyalty bonus and if we were going to replace the vehicle. She explained that we had...

Getting madder and madder each day as people are making progress

Try Wells Fargo. They list their branch locations online with the services each can provide. That's how we knew which one to go to. They did it for free and even said it did not matter if you have an account there. Of course YMMV. Good Luck!

Buyback Appointment Emails Going Out Now

It's Almost Done. Received my appointment email this afternoon. Email sent to us at exactly 5:00 PM. The calendar the claims portal presented to us only had Wednesdays and Thursdays available for turn ins. We selected the first convenient date for us which 12/1 at 1:00 PM at the VW dealer in...

    Got an offer email

I am sorry for my poor choice of the word "review" in my OP on a forum full of attorneys and legal scholars.:p What the notary did was exactly as DanB stated. She looked it over for blank spaces and determined that she could not use the page that states she "personally knew me" No legal advice...

    Got an offer email

VW's Turn Just finished uploading all 8 pages as one file to the claims portal. It's in VW's hands now.:) We called before we went to the bank today to make sure they had a notary on staff. The branch manager told us he had 3 on staff today. When we arrived, it was our luck to have one of them...

    Got an offer email

They must work weekends. We received our offer this morning. On our way to the bank to get it notarized.:) It's a little weird to know it's really going to happen after waiting over a year. Our evil scheme seems to be working - This will payoff the replacement Jag.:p

If you are considering buyback which cars are you looking at as replacements?

Not Your Fathers Jag Anymore We have had several Jags over the years and I can vouch that they have improved immensely. We picked up a cpo '13 XJL V8 super recently to replace the TDI. I would have picked another model maybe even the new XE diesel but she wanted one with the tray tables for...

If you are considering buyback which cars are you looking at as replacements?

Waiting on the buyback Pulled the trigger on a '13 cpo Jag XJL a few weeks ago. Really nice car, scary fast. We managed to get 29mpg out of it on the highway. Not bad for a supercharged v8 .;) While this could be considered another ridiculous car to choose as a replacement, our circumstances...

So anyway VW can back out of the buyback?

Remember, The standards the "fix" has to meet are relaxed from the original requirements the cars should have been able to meet when new. If VW takes the buyback off of the table or shirks off parts of the agreement, EPA/CARB will require the fix to meet the original standards. And this event...

    Lets start objecting/complaining !

We also paid more than msrp. Our car was one of the first 10's off the truck and with cash for clunkers going on the options were limited. No regrets about purchasing the car. It has served us well. Our circumstances will change in the next couple of years so mileage will be less of a concern...

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

I heard a radio advertisement yesterday for one of the local VW dealers. A 2016 Jetta S was $16222. Take the price and your check - what a deal! They must really be discontenting the cars.

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

That's rich! A copy should be sent to the EPA, and Judge Breyer. As far as I know no state has banned them yet. California will be the first though... In my opinion...

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

The Big Picture Much has been said about VW closing up shop and going home stranding their owners and becoming "orphan' cars. My opinion is VW is saber-rattling to try and get any concessions from EPA-CARB it can. Look at it from the big retailer perspective, The federal complaint includes...

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

It seems to me one word covers VW's mindset at this time - Arrogance!
