ACTUAL purchases of '15 USED (buyback) TDIs

My wife wants to get back into a 2015 Passat TDI SEL. We have been looking pretty hard in the Tampa/St Pete area. The CarfaxX on 99 percent of these cars show they went to Michigan for storage and were then auctioned all over the US. What we have been noticing is a lot of water staining in...

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

Yep. VW is hoping you wrap that thing around a pole during the next 2 yrs. They're planning on it........maybe not you specifically but I'm sure it is factored in.

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

Lol. I got a good laugh when he argued about the merits of trade-in value then subsequently provided a mathematical analysis that showed the guy he was arguing with came out $1k ahead in a private sale. Now he's making statements that there is fix. Currently waiting for link.

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

FTW I actually like the pizza analogy. Your typical pizza joint has far more class than VW in providing a remedy. When the pie is wrong, the manager sends you a correct pie stat and he tells you to keep the error because it can't be fixed or resold. Zero charge for replacement or mileage...

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

You're absolutely right. I was just mentioning the Lemon Law as an option when all others have been withdrawn.......and it is not an easy option to pursue.

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

^^ A point lost on many. I absolutely LOVE my JSW TDI. It is my 4th TDI. That said, the financially sound thing to is let it go as you have figured out..

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

VW sold me a vehicle that cannot be fixed and that will become (at some point) illegal to drive in the US........covered under Lemon Law in FL.

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

Yes, you are not being required to sell anything that is true, however you are being heavily manipulated to do so. On one day in 2018 my 2014 JSW will be worth $28k. On the next day it will be worth $16k.

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

I'm actually making money on my 2014 JSW and my wife is breaking even on her 2013 Passat. It's the owners of the older cars many of which cannot be fixed who are going to be in a bad position especially if they are unable to take on debt or otherwise secure a comparable vehicle. When my wife's...

Because the product was misrepresented at the time sale and no amount of compensation or fixing is going to return the vehicle to it's original performance.

I'll do you one better. The sale of your TDI was a lie. The contract was fraudulent as was the sale itself. A complete refund of the purchase price is only way to make everyone within the class whole.

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

Your examples make the assumption that people are in a position to sell. There are people, especially people with older TDIs who are not in a position to sell for various reasons. People who through financial planning, retirement, fixed income situations etc. have set themselves up with a...

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

You are certainly entitled to your opinion as is everyone else. From reading your posts it appears you will be happy to recoup the "value" of your TDI. Myself and many others here were not looking to sell our TDIs. But if we are going to be put into a corner our position is that we want...

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

Isn't it nice of VW to want to purchase our cars at wholesale/trade in value so they can turn around retail them again. I feel like I'm reading one of those BS sales flyers from the local dealerships.......WE NEED YOUR CAR. You drive by a lot and low and behold there is your old car with a...

Dieselgate: Volkswagen to Spend Up to $14.7 Billion to Settle ...

Wake up people. Faultymechanics is spot on in his assessments. The "combined" value is a buyback amount with the "extra cash" rolled into it. If you're not selling it back you won't see a penny of the compensation for two years all the while you take the hit on mileage and the exposure to...

VW Will Pay 14.7 Billion to Settle Claims in U.S.

Stiffed for about $2k in taxes I see. My 2014 TDI Sportwagen is like new. The Sportwagens are not going to be fixable. You can't find another similarly performing vehicle like it let alone a diesel anywhere near the price VW is offering to get mine off the road. VW will have to do a lot...

    How Long did it take??

Nah, just looking to get what was promised. As said I am ok with the VISA but the service card could make a difference as my two TDIs are in great shape and don't need anything. Now that you mention it, if I don't need to use the service card prior to expiration maybe I can transfer it to...

    How Long did it take??

Just got off the phone with the lawyers at VW. Need to clarify a definition. The cards are advertised as good for one year from date of "issuance". VW is defining "issuance" as the day you "registered" for the card not the date they sent you the card. Essentially the processing time is...

    How Long did it take??

It is good for 1 year. It is pretty lame that VW starts the clock when you apply for the goodwill package, not when they send it. Here we are middle of Dec, just got today and it expires Nov 2016.

Comparing regen 2014 JSW vs 2013 Passat

One would assume so. But alas no warning lights, regens/fan running or other evidence of JSW regen activity hence this thread. The JSW engine fan(s) never continued to run after shutting the car off. Not complaining......just an observation. The Passat fans continue to after shut down...

Comparing regen 2014 JSW vs 2013 Passat

I have the JSW TDI , my wife the Passat TDI SE. It seems as though her Passat regens quite frequently. I have 7k miles now on my JSW and I have never heard it regen.......ever. I know mine does not use the AdBlue additive as does her car. Any ideas why her Passat seems to regen frequently...

    2014 Jetta TDI Sportwagen

I have had 4 TDIs...... Jetta sedans and a Passat. Just bought a 2014 JSW TDI DSG. Now that I own it, it's apparent the JSW is really a Golf all the way around.......nothing like a Jetta at all. lol My impressions.......while I didn't think I'd like it better than my wife's Passat, I really...

When did you scrap your Hankooks?

I recently found the new TDI I wanted which unfortunately came equipped with Hankooks. I made my best deal but told the dealer the Hankooks were a deal breaker. The dealer replaced them with Continentals prior to delivery.
