Buyback was Friday afternoon at 3pm. Just received the EFT email at 8:30. Transfer is done. 1 - 2 business days before it shows up in account. Glad to be done with the process.
I turned in my 09 Jetta today in Columbus, Ohio. I was told that if you bring in a stripped car, you will receive a renegotiated settlement. The buyback only took about 15 minutes. Not sure they even started it.
I purchased my replacement vehicle (2017 Hyundai Elantra) on 8/1. My first car payment is due 10/30 and I got 48 months at 0%. Not too bad for a car that cost under $20K. I went on vacation and drove 2K miles and the car averaged around 42+mpg the entire trip (city and highway). This replaces my...
I just parked my 09 Jetta on Saturday. Exhaust Pressure Sensor B is starting to go bad. I was quoted to $374 to replace both sensors, but they also found that both rear coil springs were broken $498 plus $130 for alignment and I had to pay $120 for diagnostics (I already told them the sensor was...
Thanks Mike, it goes in for an oil change on Saturday, and I will have them look at the code. Right now, the check engine light is off. Just trying to keep this up and running until the buyback.
On my drive home from work the dreaded Check Engine Line came on. I checked it with a scanner and received the following code:
P047A Error Exhaust Pressure Sensor B Circuit
This is on an 2009 Jetta with 150,000 miles on it.
Should I park the car until the buyback? It is still running fine...
The 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport should be out in the 4th quarter. 200HP and 196ft-lb torque. Also available with manual transmission.

I did not drive the SE, it has the same engine as the Limited. It has a little more horsepower but less torque than the Eco. The Eco was had pretty good acceleration, not quite as snappy as the Jetta.
I felt quite comfortable merging on the highway and taking off from a stop.
The only thing I...
After reading through some of the proceedings, it seems like the majority of the states (44) are already good with the settlement. If the compensation is increased, in my opinion, it won't be much.
I drove the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Eco...it has all the features I want and the price is very good. It rides better than my 09 Jetta. The only issue I found is the dual clutch transmission has a little trouble when driving in a parking lot around 10 - 15 mph. I figure switching over to the manual...
On this page: http://www.cand.uscourts.gov/crb/vwmdl/proposed-settlement it shows the compensation chart for the buyback which is higher than what I calculated with the mileage penalty
2009 TDI DSG with Moonroof (Central) with 155,000 miles as of Oct 2016
I calculated roughly $11K for the buy...
The one thing that needs worked on is the mileage.
Those of us that bought our cars did not have the incentive to stay under the 12K mileage. We are being charged 4 cents per mile for anything over the 12K / yr.
I cannot figure out why someone that has driven a car for 7 years and put on 178K miles is not happy with a $10k buyback. That is almost half of what you paid for the car excluding tax/title. How is that not a good deal?
Here's an idea: add the labor/parts that the fix would cost to the settlement. I am sure with another few thousand dollars per offer VW might actually hit their 85% goal.
I have a 2009 Jetta TDI (Central area, DSG and moonroof) that will have about 155K in September. If I calculated everything correctly, I should get around $11K. For me, I think that is pretty decent considering the mileage.
For all of those that think we are not getting enough, what would you...
The other car manufacturers are to blame too. Volvo knew that there was no way VW was passing the emissions testing in the US.
