    I think my radio died...

I removed a door card today to try to find and fix a rattle that's been driving me nuts (didn't work), and to make matters worse, when I was done, my radio quit working. Nothing worked except the flashing LED, no SAFE displayed. Pulling fuse 42 for 10 seconds brought it back. Thanks TDIClub!

10k miles since my easy-off cleaning, and running great without limp mode. Thanks again Tom!

    Show what you tow!

Here's my 03 loaded for a recent Holiday to Vermont's Green Mountains: 4*8 trailer with 2 sportbikes weighing about 1200 lbs total. Towed about 600 miles total, while getting 29 mpg, at an average 65 mph. The two mountain bikes on the roof probably didn't help mileage either.

    Économie d'essence d'hiver

Ok, merci.

Ma...

Limp mode/Over boost Can't be fixed!

+1 on what Canadian Grizzly and Tom W have said. I was also having overboost limp mode issues. A local TDI specialist looked at it and said I needed a new actuator. After going through CG's write-up, I was able to confirm that my vaccum lines and actuator held vacuum, and thought the N75 valve...

Easy Lubro Moly Diesel Purge How-To - with pics!!

Would this still be beneficial on a car that has new, and therefore clean, nozzles? The car in question has about 87k miles. Thanks.

Diagnosing and Fixing Limp mode for A4 1.9TDI [low power troubleshooting]

well, if the vacuum lines are good, and the vnt moves, have you checked that the actuator hold vacuum and moves at the right amount of vacuum? if that checks out, it leave your N75 valve.

    WTB: Actuator for VNT-15

I've got a new one, still in box, that I got from Brian after being told by a mecanic that mine was bad. Turned out it wasn't, so I never changed it. I'll sell it to you for the price brian charges, plus whatever the actual shipping cost to you is. PM me your address if interested, so I can...

Chemical cleaning for turbo vs removal?

I should also add that the friend who helped me do this procedure had done it to his own TDI (with 280k miles) a few nights prior, and it solved his overboosting limp-mode issues too.

    Blown steering rack

I did get the groaning sound while sitting still (ie, not rolling), but only if I moved the wheels. I'm no expert, but if you're getting a groaning sound while not moving the wheel, I'd suspect the pump.

loss of power after an hour of driving.

Definately sounds like limp-mode. the link in Puter's sig helped me track down my limp-mode problem. In my case, it was a combination of a cracked vaccum pump to brake booster hose and a gummed up turbo.

Timing belt failure and no engine damage,is this possible?

That sucks! 38k miles away from the normal interval:confused:
  19. A

New to Forum have a few questions

If she had the timing belt replaced, try to find out if it was replaced with the 2003-and-later version belt and associated parts. If so, the new change interval is 100k miles. If not, or if you can't be sure, you'll have to change it again after 60k miles.

Chemical cleaning for turbo vs removal?

So I went for a good rip last night, purposely doing the things that would trip the limp mode before (full throttle accel from about 2k rpm), and no limp. Power seems improved, as does fuel economy. Another satisfied customer, adding to the body of evidence that this trick works. I know that...

Chemical cleaning for turbo vs removal?

Well, after chasing an intermittent overboost problem for a few months, doing through Drivebywire's excellent troubleshooting how-to, we did this chemical cleaning last night. Snowy roads prevented a really good thrashing of the car on the way home, but a few full throttle runs definately seemed...

    Blown steering rack

So I ordered the new Audi TT rack from Boraparts for 400$, and help my buddy install it in an evening. Blown steering rack

So right after I solved a limp mode problem (N75 valve) on my three-week-new-to-me 03 Golf GLS with 85k miles, the steering rack blew. Turning into a parking lot I noticed a groaning noise from the front end. Once stopped, it was evident that it was in direct relation to movement of the...
