There is a NOx filter regen option in VCDS / OBDEleven, but usually it's accompanied by a clogged DPF which is an R&R. No other codes? Just the NOx?

That's the oil pressure control valve. In situ pics below. Top access is very good even though it looks tight. Take note of the angle of the pressure switch.

Between the radiator and the front of the engine. If you're facing the car head on, in the lower right quadrant of the front of the engine. Will try to take a Pic tomorrow, in the meantime, it's the bit circled "SW" below. You can see it's to the right of a lower pulley on the aux belt loop.

I found using a prybar to get the flange of the DPF through the exhaust tunnel made it much easier to do (if you're not dropping the subframe).

When I had the same problem, it was an invisible break in the wires to the crankshaft position sensor. Might be worth the time to test continuity between the sensor and ECU.

Heater core is always a good guess, especially if he can smell it while driving. Might not be too bad of a leak, but be prepared for coolant in the interior if it is a bad leak.

What is that display, looks like a highline? Know what year this is? Seems like up to '14 only had lowline. Awesome mileage on there, wonder how many DPFs they burned through.
