Check the ignition signal wire. If there is voltage leaking to the line the module will think its commanded on without data signal and failsafe to full speed.
Always need to change the oil and coolant with the cooler. The chance of cross contamination is high.
Need to pressure test the cooling system and see where the loss is going.
Conveniently, the thermostat starts to open at 88c so it will work fine in a stock car.
A drastically lower temperature like if a 72c thermostat was installed, yes thats possible. But 88c, no, there is no tangible difference in economy so far.
Thats just the distribution box brand O'Reilly's...
As a professional mechanic of 25 years that fixes emissions diesels for a living; thats not true. The CKRA runs hot because the EGR cooler and head passage dumps tons of heat into the cooling system and has a high bypass coolant flow for the EGR cooler to function. This is especially true of the...
I couldn't produce anything that would fit in the housing and seal the bypass passage. I ended up replacing the whole assembly with a motorad part listing 195 opening temperature and now, along with a new oil cooler, my temperatures are steady on 189f instead of 208f...
Same thing with me. Normal temps were 208f coolant and 230f oil, occasionally spiking to 220/250f. New thermostat and oil cooler and temperatures are steady at 195f coolant and 215f oil.
I used this motorad part because it specifically lists 189f as the opening temperature...
I want mine to be on only the occasions I want it but off automatic the rest of the time. I soldered some switch leads to the legs inside the relay.
(I know the relay is different. Same concept but picture from a different project)
Normal operating temperatures for the 2.0 TDI oil is 215-285°F. I typically see 220-250 on my CKRA.
Synthetic oil is good for north of 300°F before it degrades.
My understanding is if you can hear it rattle at idle, its failed and you're running on borrowed time. I can definitely believe a DMF would cause grinding because the input speed won't be stable.
Bad design. The hot side of the EGR passes through the head to the valve. Blocking off the tube will reduce hot gas movement into the head.
Probably VW's way of trying to cool the gases somewhat without another dedicated cooler.
The low pressure EGR, if you put a blankoff gasket under the...
The engines are known to crack the pickup tube in the pan, which can let it suck air.
Other than that; oil level, correct oil viscosity. You should stop driving it until you find a conclusive cause or you're going to damage the engine or turbo.
I just installed 12641035 without tune. Runs same as before, maybe a little better top end? No dyno to tell but it noticeably doesn't taper off as much.
Stepped torque is to seat bolts/nuts to a known value so the final torque applies even pressure to the headgasket. Since its already been torqued fully, going straight to full value will keep the headgasket from losing compression/sealing/tearing.
