"VW will pay cash compensation to owners who either sell their vehicles back or get them fixed, a source briefed on the matter said. Owners selling back their vehicles will get an additional cash payment...
I agree. Not enough people here seem too concerned about the environmental impact of the scandal. I've heard lots of people talking about how the federal regulations the United States are too strict on diesel vehicles.
Leaving the actual environmental impact aside, a lot of people bought...
Why not wait for the resolution of the scandal. What if the fix involves new components and a decrease in HP, torque, and MPG. At least at that time you can make determination as to whether you want the TDI.
The part is going to take a week to come in. I have an older 3rd car I am going to drive.
I don't plan on keeping the TDI after the resolution of the scandal.
They said they would leave it on the lot for a week or so.
I wish I could elaborate, but the service manager did not say anything else.
If the scandal does not resolve by the end of the month, I am just going to leave the junk car in my drive way.
NOx Sensor just went bad on my 2012 Passat with 76,000 miles on it.The dealer has to order parts. Dealer told me that VW told them the TDI scandal will be resolved by the end of the month... Interestingly, they will hold the car until then.
Here is my plan. I recently got a Volvo for the wife...

I think you maybe wrong about how lawers take their fee in a class action.
Regardless, this is why I will be happy to never own a vw, audi, or porche ever again!
How come more of you are not on twitter or Facebook responding to VW's stupid ads for their new vehicles? Everytime an add pops up...

"According to this source, the negotiations between VW executives and U.S. regulators are focused on fixing the affected cars and on some kind of compensation for several years' worth of...
In the next two months I will need the 80,000 mile service, new brakes, new tires, and the rear driver's side door handle has fallen off and needs to be replaced.
My question, has anyone taken their TDI off the road in anticipation of a buyback or cash settlement? I have no intention in...
So, let me see if I understand what you are saying. If VW offers FMV before the scandal plus 50% you are upset because that amont will not by a comparable replacement? Such as a brand new vehicle?
My Example: 2012 Passat TDI SEL paid $32,500. FMV 17,500 prescandal. So, I would get $26,250...
"Bloomberg also reports that California and federal officials have pushed for VW owners to have the right to sell their car back to the automaker.

That sounds good...
Point well taken regarding the mindset of many automakers, the difference here in that VW got caught and admitted their wrongdoing.
Your second point is misplaced. I never commented about EVs or gassers being clean or cleaner/less clean when compared to diesel vehicles nor do I want to comment...
There was a time when I loved my TDI and the VW brand for brining such an innovative vehicle to the US market. That time as long since passed.
How could you want any other VW after the lying, cheating, and delaying? I cannot wait to never own a VW/Audi/Porsche.
Venting: I am also sick of...
I agree! My family is getting bigger. I want - not need - an SUV (XC 90). Should I have thought about that before buying a sedan 4 years ago? Yes, but now because VW cheated I cannot trade the VW in and buy the XC90.
I will comment more at a later date.
For now, I wanted to add that when I was 19 years old I bought a BMW 328i with a manual transmission. I drove that vehicle like it should have been driven...
The brakes lasted about 19,000.
Now I am a little older, and my Passat has almost 70,000 and I...
I was recently at a client meeting and I learned that the service technications typically do not need to change the brakes on the vans for about 150,000 miles.
Has anyone gone more then 100,000 miles before their first brake change?
I am almost there...
Just last week I started experiencing problems with my driver's side door opening mechanism. I used the term "mechanism" because the door handle inside the car does not work well either.
Here is exactly what I have been experiencing:
1. When I push the unlock button twice on the key fob I...
