Why not wait for the resolution of the scandal. What if the fix involves new components and a decrease in HP, torque, and MPG. At least at that time you can make determination as to whether you want the TDI.

The part is going to take a week to come in. I have an older 3rd car I am going to drive. I don't plan on keeping the TDI after the resolution of the scandal.

They said they would leave it on the lot for a week or so. I wish I could elaborate, but the service manager did not say anything else. If the scandal does not resolve by the end of the month, I am just going to leave the junk car in my drive way.
