Your engineer friend makes some good points, however the fix plan (and especially the 162,000 mile warrantee) address these concerns in a very reasonable manner. My recommendation is that everyone who likes their 2015 TDI and would like to keep it for several years should get the fix. If you...
I have had five fill-ups so far since the fix - here are my observations:
1. The engine runs a little quieter and a little smoother
2. In town mileage is about the same, maybe slightly better
3. Highway mileage is 2% to 5% better (calculated - not MFI)
4. Power curve is a little bit different...
My e-mail from Chase also didn't show up when I expected it. I checked my "Junk" folder and there it was - and the process has proceeded normally since then. It's possible that your e-mail system may work the same way as mine does.
Gretchen - I am also an owner of a 2015 (in my case a Jetta SEL), so I think that I can relate to your situation.
It seems to me that you should wait for the Generation 3 fix (which is what I will do with my car). It will require you to bring the car in twice, but you will get a loaner car...
This was my experience also on my 2010 JSW (102,000 miles). The only difference that I noticed was that the engine ran a little bit quieter and smoother. Have put another 5000 miles on since then - still running great.
Bravo, Borsig! I agree with your perspective.
My 2010 JSW DSG is just short of 5 years and 100,000 miles. I'd like to keep it for at least 3 - 4 more years, so I know that I'll have a timing belt job and a couple more DSG services (I wish they were less expensive!)
Problems so far: (1) the...
Jerry:
I'm with Josh on this one. It looks like you are being treated right here.
And although there is some inconvenience for you as you wait, I would interpret the whole experience as good luck on your part - you will end up with a brand new ECM rather than a 4-year-old one - and it didn't...
I have 3600 miles on my Jetta SEL TDI with lighting package. I am still very pleased with it and have averaged a bit over 46 mpg with about 30% of my driving in city traffic. No problems - comfortable and quiet. Nice!
I also use Fuelly and find it to be useful.
But I have a question that I can't figure out by myself: how do you arrange to have your Fuelly data in your signature line? I'm sure it's rather simple, but I can't find anywhere on the Forum that describes the process. Thanks!
I've owned my 2015 SEL TDI for about a month now. My first tank yielded 53.5 mpg (calculated) with 70% highway and 30% in town driving. The second tank got 43.7 mpg (calculated) on 40% highway and 60% in town driving.
I haven't had mine as long as Tomo366 yet, but so far I have seen better mileage. It might be due to being in warm Arizona!
Tank 1 - 80% highway, 20% city - 50.5 mpg measured.
Tank 2 - 90% city, 10% highway - 43.4 mpg measured.
As a point of reference, I also have a 2010 Jetta Sportwagen...
I am aware that some people have experienced the navigation system/rear view camera problem that Nick F refers to here, but I also think that it is fair to say that not everyone experiences this problem. Although I can't explain why, my 2015 Jetta SEL TDI with light package and Nav does not have...
Advanced driving features like blind spot detection and lane departure warnings are nice but they are safety features that are limited to high end models or even Audi.
I agree that not everyone will want to include advanced safety systems like this in their car, but Volkswgen's competitors do...
I find myself in the same camp as DerekS and TDImusings - I'd like to see HID headlights and LED taillights, turn signal lights, and DRLs. I know that they can be retrofitted, but it still seems like quite a bit of work to me.
I have not bought my Passat yet, but I have driven almost every...
I am 182 miles from the selling dealer. The nearest dealer (where I have my maintenance performed) is 155 miles in the opposite direction.
However, there are two independent shops in town that advertise their expertise in Volkswagen maintenance. I will check them out after my extended...
I have XM in two cars and Sirius in two cars. To my ears, the sound of satellite radio varies from OK to very good and is directly correlated to the quality of the sound system in the cars - not the satellite radio format.
I personally prefer the XM programming over the Sirius programming...
At the risk of "piling on", I will never consider a vehicle without a spare either. I drive across hundreds of miles of uninhabited desert every month and - at least twice per year - drive I-10 from Arizona to Houston and back. I know that many of you are familiar with I-40 between El Paso and...
I don't have a prediction, but I do have a modest "wish list". I'm very satisfied with most aspects of the Passat as now configured, but would like to see:
LED tail lights and daylight running lights
A more modern nav-head unit - faster, solid state hard drive
Blind spot collision-avoidance...
