2012 Passat TDi turned in yesterday 1/26/17.
Dealer selected is about a 90 mile drive, so I loaded the car on a trailer and hauled it to the dealership.
Arrived about 30 minutes early for the appointment and unloaded the car in the dealership parking lot.
Went in and a gentleman asked how...
The buyback checklist specifies that key"s" must be turned in with car.
I have only one key (lost the other key over 2yrs ago)
Will this make a difference on turning in the car?
Not sure if it will cause any problems. May check with dealer or claims tomorrow to see if it makes a difference.
I owe $748 on an outside loan not with vw credit. Next payment is due Jan. 17th. My buyback date is set for Jan.26
I will be so close on the buyback date should I proceed with payment? If so will they reimburse the $477 payment I will make on the 17th?

Thanks guys for all the advice. Payment now is $477 a month and insurance is $107. We can lower the insurance to liability and save a little there if we wanted. So I'm looking at about a $534 savings for a monthly budget.
Own a 2012 passat tdi that we owe about 11 months on and it will be paid off. My wife and I have some extra money and are considering paying the car off early to free up some money in our budget.
Question would be should we go ahead and pay it off. Should we wait until a lot of "what if's" with...
I been using the wal-mart brand for a while now also. Agreed the jug is bulky.
I bought one of these and cut the bottom out of it and use it sort of as a funnel. Works good this way.

Got the hose, ready to reassembly this afternoon. Hoping the turbo is not blown.
I noticed that the air duct from the radiator support has a round hole in it and an arrow printed on the duct. Should this hole be open or does it supposed to have a plug of some sort?
Got a chance to check the car closer today. Checked the hose you indicated in the pic, while my wife revved the engine. Indeed there was an air loss on the hose. Got everything removed to get to it and found it was split the same as the pic. Picking up a new silicone hose tomorrow. Hopefully...
2012 Passat TDI 47400 miles.
This morning my wife was taking the kids to school on here morning commute and the glow plug light started flashing about a mile into it the trio from start up. The car started to spit and sputter and lost power. She immediately called me about the problem. After a...
We have decided to keep the tires. Got about 200 miles on them and they seem to be a little better. Running 35psi, what the dealer mounted at. Gonna try and up the pressure to 38 that you suggest. Also want to cover the holes in the fender wheels and see if that helps some. Wife says she is...
Road Noise-Michelin Defender Tires-12 Passat
I know this subject has been on here alot. 43000 miles on wifes passat and the hankook tires were showing lots of wear. Road noise with the hankooks was what everyone on here complained about, but we learned to deal with it. Buddy works at a local...
Thought I was the only one that had problems. ECU went out on mine at 1300 miles.

VW fixed the problem in about a week and the car has ran great since. Now approaching 9,000 miles without a problem.
Getting ready to file taxes for 2011. This may be a dumb question, but does the new passat fall under a tax credit for an alternative motor energy efficient vehicle?? Any input on this would be great. Never know till you ask.
We'll guys put about 700 miles on the car since the incident with no problems. Dealer followed up a a few days after to make sure everything was going ok. Its running great. Averaging about 38mpg, with rural roads, city and highway mix. Keeping all fuel and mileage logged.
Well guys finally got an answer on the problem. BAD ECU/ECM. New part supposed to be there this morning. Dealership and Volkswagon has been great thru the ordeal. Up to 4 phone calls per day keeping us updated. Supposed to pick the car up today or later this evening. Just glad its almost over...
Service department just called and said they could not figure the problem out, so they are flying in a VW specialist/engineer. The car is running now but the check engine light is still on and they cant figure out why. They said that by friday if it wasnt fixed one way or another they would make...
Since they came and got it we didnt make a trip to the dealer so no loaner, but we still had our old trusty envoy that we didnt trade in. My wifes driving it today. Going to push for anything we can get, reimbursement on fuel, ect.
Dealer has called already this morning and VW has already followed up with them. They got everyone in the service department trying to figure it out. Should know something later today.
