Wreck
Someone lost control of their vehicle, came across the median and smashed into me on Sunday, 7/3. I don't yet have a repair estimate but there is a good chance my car is totaled. 2014 JSW. I'm unclear about how this provision of the settlement works or exactly what I should or should not...
trade now or later?
I have a 2014 JSW TDI with only 16000 miles on it. I love the car and I had planned to run it into the ground but now this news has changed my plans. Here is my question: should I trade now for a 2016 GSW TSI? Or am I going to be better off financially waiting for several...
I don't understand how anyone is getting any of these mpg numbers. Since I got my 2014 JSW in November, I've done city driving, highway driving, interstate driving, cold weather driving, warm weather driving, and mixes of all of the above. In IDEAL conditions I've gotten 30-32 mpg. In normal...
I'm not sure what this means. Does taking it to the body shop at a VW dealer potentially qualify as an "improper repair" if the dealer is not a Certified Collision Repair Facility?
I live in a rust-prone area and intend to keep the car a very long time (it's brand new and replacing a '98).
How important is this?
I had a minor accident in my brand new 2014 TDI JSW. :( My fault (legally, although really... nevermind, that's not important). Bent hood, broken front grill, although headlights and front bumper are still intact.
My question is: does it matter whether I go to a...
I've had a similar issue and been trying to figure out what to do. My key fob has always worked to unlock the door. However, frequently (but intermittently), when I try to unlock the door with the key, the key simply spins all the way around in the barrel but does not unlock the door. I can just...
Sure, of course, disposable works; the question was directed more to the people who said they use non-disposable gloves. I would prefer non-disposable gloves, but it seems like they would soon start to smell.
I've thought about getting gloves, but I'm worried about this exact issue. If you use a glove to handle a dirty pump, won't the glove make your whole car smell like diesel fuel? In some ways, that's worse than having your hand smell. My hand will only smell for a day. A glove that's reused a few...
Please humor me a few more newbie questions.
(1) I pulled up to a diesel pump today that indicated on the pump that it contained anywhere between 5 and 20% biodiesel blend. Since, if I understand correctly, VW doesn't approve of anything above 5%, I left and went to another filling station. But...
I should have mentioned that all the high RPMs occurred whole driving in "S" mode. Almost always accelerating quickly up a steep high. But it was the DSG selecting the gearing/RPMs, not me. I've actually been more careful when driving in tiptronic mode.
Well, what I didn't say is that I'm worried about the transmission. It seemed a bit jerky when I took delivery and seems to have gotten worse, not better, as I've been driving it. (I thought at first that I just needed to adapt to the DSG. But I'm no longer sure that's the issue.) And the engine...
Also (sorry to post so many messages)... What exactly have I done wrong so far? Is it just that I've been hitting peak RPMs above 3800, or is the high speed/sustained high RPMs itself a problem? (Asking because I'd like to treat the car the best I can going forward. I want to drive this car for...
Confused by some of these responses... So should I take it easy on my upcoming long trip or not worry about it?
And for those who are recommending taking things easy during break in... I am not saying I disagree but I would like to know specifically why...? Can you explain what damage is being...
On the one hand, um, great, that's exactly what I'd like to hear. On the other hand, if that's true, then why is the consistent advice here and elsewhere not to exceed 3,800 RPM for at least the first 1,000 miles (if not longer)?
Hi, new owner of 2014 JSW TDI with DSG. First post. Complete newbie--brand new to VW and to diesels, and actually brand new to "new" cars too, as I've only ever previously owned used vehicles.
Well, I've now read everything there is to read about "break-in" on these vehicles. But...
