Yes, it does have the Aisin 6 Speed Tiptronic in it and the noise seems to coincide with rpm if you place it in any gear, forward or reverse, and then push on the gas pedal with the brake held. It is a very slight noise but you can hear it reflecting off of a building if you are parked beside...
I have a 2003 NBC GLX with the 1.8T engine paired up with the GHE 09g transmission. It doesn't seem to have any valve body issues at it shifts fine, for now, but has a slight whine sound when placed in any gear whether D or R. It is super quiet in P or N and this is driving me crazy trying to...
My MKIV 2001 Jetta now has brand new ECS tuning Poly Bushing control arms, new sway bar bushings and new Bilstein end links! It drives like a new car now and NO more clunking noises! I love it...! :)
Monster Mats
FWIW, I have the OEM Monster Mats in my MKIV TDI and I LOVE them! They are rugged, easy to clean and do NOT slip around at all. I recommend you check out the NOS on the Monster Mats!;)
There is a local salvage yard near me in Olympia that has been commissioned by VW to crush the CR cars. All they can remove are the tires and wheels. Everything, and I mean everything, is crushed flat. What a sad waste!
It was a sad sight here in WA State as I walked into our local Pick 'n Pull. There was a pile of 30 or so TDI wagons and sedans that were all flat as a pancake. I was told these were all VW buyback cars and the only thing they could remove was the wheels/tires. Everything else had to be...

My '10 JSW starts and runs perfect when cold and I've never experienced any rough running at all. I've never heard the noise you mention with the exception of shutting the car off. I do hear some noise for approximately 25 seconds after turning it off and this appears normal.
Thanks for the heads-up on this... my JSW also had the screws that were just too long. Thank goodness the indent was very minor. I'll grind a bit off and use some washers with my club frame to take up the difference.

Nice to hear about the front plate and wire ties. My dealer that delivered our new JSW was the same way - your choice! No holes or wire ties! I went the wire tie route and it looks much better!
