It isn't much different than my Jetta Sportwagen TDI. The Passat requires urea added to the diesel and the Jetta TDI does not. The Passat cost more than a Jetta and isn't that much difference in size. I chose a 14 Jetta tdi over a Passat for that reason. The 14 Jetta has plenty of room in...
We have an 09 and a 14 tdi. The 09 is a jetta sportwagen and the 14 is a jetta sedan. The 14 seems to run much better than the wagan. Neither are what I would call loud. We had a 2000 ford diesel truck that pulled a 5th wheel for years and it was loud, but I wouldn't trade it for any other...
If they think the Cruze diesel is so good, why does GM require the oil to be changed at 5,000 miles? One other thing. Compare the back seat room between a Cruze and a Jetta.
I've owned a 05 Passat TDI. It gave me no trouble.
I now have a 09 Jetta Sportwagen TDI that would have to be the best car I have ever owned. Great car for road trips. I can't brag on the mileage because I have a very heavy foot and have never gotten above 38 mpg.
I did own another TDI...
Saturday morning we will leave the Dallas area and it's 100 temps for a place in south central New Mexico called Cloudcroft with temps in the 70's. My mileage, this trip, will be second in my thoughts. In the early morning it will be in the upper 40's and get up to about 75 to 77 late afternoon.
I have a real good dealer in Garland, Tx. that replaced the sensor in one of my tires after this happened. I just told them I didn'r want this to happen again when I'm on long highway trips.
You guys worry too much. I've been driving diesels for about 15 years. Travel all over the US and have yet to get a bad tank of diesel. I try, always, to fill up at high volume stations. Brand name does not bother me but price does.
Some of us get a little more. I only average between 35 to 37. My average goes down in the Texas summers 3 or 4 mpg and about 2 to 3 in the winter. I don't really try very hard to get good milleage. When I have a trip I try to get there as fast as I can. I think the best mileage I have...
With the police state we now live in we might all have to sell our soul to get a "so called non American car. With the labor unions controlling our nation, I doubt we will ever get an English made Ford car.
I live in Texas and get better mileage in the winter. This last summer many days I had my AC on max/ max which really pulled down my mpg. Plus most of this was city driving.
The TDI's are great. My wife and I now have our third new TDI in a row.
You can get good information here , BUT in the last few years the negative comments have gotten loud. Because of all the negative posts I come here less and less.
