Lol! Right, just remove the high pressure fuel lines, unplug them from the wiring harness, hope you don't damage the delicate return lines, clean the **** out of the valve cover so you don't get all that crap that accumulates in the top end, carefully move the cover plates out of the way...
It'll show you the same value you'd see for torsion value in a PD. It just calls it idle stabilization. Not completely sure what you're looking for in terms of your cps diagnostic. I used it to fine tune my cam timing
For the CJAA it can be found under measuring block 051 "idle stabilization". While the injectors are not directly actuated by the cam like a PD the cam crank phasing certainly has a slight influence on how early/late the valves open.
I have this cat on my CJAA: https://www.idparts.com/catalytic-converter-94109-75330-p-4969.html#product_tabs
Once it's good and hot there is really minimal smell, but for short errands and at start up it stinks way more than my 5.9 cummins which just has the oem cat (no dpf or def). If that ID...
I have only heard of the earlier edc15 ecu based TDIs not getting flagged when smoging with a tune. Haven't seen anyone with a common rail that's wanted to test their luck on that front
This is not true, CARB knows what the checksum on your ecu/tune should be and any aftermarket tune is not going to match their database causing a fail during a smog check
Absolutely, xtremefunky has mentioned how much less vnt duty cycle is needed for the GTD turbos - watching mass air flow numbers confirms that compressor wheel moves a ton of air even at lower boost #s.
Good luck getting everything set up, you'll have to update how it goes and maybe it'll be...
I have a picture measuring the turbo inlet OD on mine at 2.5". Pretty sure I used a 2.5 to 2" silicone 90 to mate up with the accordian pipe to the air box.
I went with malone, but don't love it. EGTs were high initially, so they upped the boost instead of adjusting fueling. I have to drive...
I have that turbo and was able to adapt the stock flex intake hose from the air box to the turbo with a couple of silicone elbows and short sections of corresponding alumimum intercooler piping tube to act like a nipple between each piece. The headache was the ccv tube - I ended up ordering one...
Seems like the timing might be off after the timing belt job.
Flashing glow plug is normal if you're missing the emissions parts but don't have a tune yet.
If you had the fuel system taken apart it can take a lot of cranking/ bleeding to get the air out. I've had good luck cracking the fuel...
This was in regard to my 2010 golf. Did some more digging and seems genuine versions of the tool and software you mentioned are actually not $1000s of dollars.
Do you know if you're able to do a true full read via odb2 or is it a virtual read?
@lemoncurd - can you pm me where you ordered that tool from? I have a clone ktag I could never get to read and wouldn't trust to write so have been dragging my feet getting in touch with Mr funky assuming that was the only affordable option.
That's wild, back in the day when the cp3 swap was just getting going people claimed it had lower pumping losses. Seems like a dramatic difference. My egts in the golf are way higher in the same load situations compared to my 2005 5.9 cummins, which seems ridiculous and has always left me...
So you were getting 50mpg with all the above mods except the cp3? Was it already tuned by Malone?
I have near identical mods, but best I get is 37mpg, which is an improvement over the 33 I was getting stock. Also Malone tuned with egts that seem higher than I'd expect.
Been meaning to reach...
Frank doesn't do CR heads last I heard. Please let us know if he says otherwise.
Generally seems they're not cost effective to rebuild and people find a whole running engine from the wreckers
It was enough fun to get the upper and lower bushings pushed in with the subframe off the car - can't imagine doing it on the car without a specialized tool/alignment jig unless the new bushing isn't a press fit.
The rack, control arms, and sway bar can all just stay put thou I think and you...
Kerma TDI seems to have the most experience tuning these and keeping all the emissions equipment from what I've seen. Seems to extend the DPF life too. Not worth doing a delete if you're going to have to reinstall all the emissions to pass smog I my opinion.
Never heard of those bulbs, and at 5500k you're starting to sacrifice usable light for "cool" looking color. Could try a more respected brand bulb in the 4300k temp. Could step up to 55w ballasts. Also take the time to ensure they're aimed correctly
