Snow Chains/Cable options for a 2014 Jetta SPW TDI?

While Washington and Colorado are the only two states that name Autosocks as an approved traction control device, it doesn't appear to be excluded from Nevada. According to Nevada DOT, fabric traction devices are considered an approved "Alternative Traction Device"...

Snow Chains/Cable options for a 2014 Jetta SPW TDI?

You don't specify your wheel size, but the two items suggested above are for 16" rims. I have 17" rims and went with a pair of Autosocks (http://www.autosock.com/en/). Easy to install and remove and work great on snow! Not sure how they perform on straight up ice, but if that condition...

    clogged condensation line? 2013 Sportwagen

Hi, I've had a similar issue. Rather than crawl under the car, I set the HVAC to blow out the upper vents (towards your face), closed all of them, and then turned the fan speed to high. The increased pressure blew out whatever was stuck in the drain line. Andy

Brake problem again - replacing everything. What parts do I need?

Do you use a torque wrench on your lug bolts? Rotors can warp if the lugs aren't torqued evenly. Andy

When did we start using temperatures in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit

No, the last few posts illustrate the difference between mass and weight, which is independent the measurement system used. Mass: ounce, pound, gram, kilogram, etc. Weight: pound-force, Newton, etc. Andy

When did we start using temperatures in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit

I withdraw my comment - ounce is a unit of mass. Weight is a unit of force. Andy

When did we start using temperatures in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit

Ounce is a unit of mass while fluid ounce is a unit of volume. I agree that the metric system is ideal for weight and volume measurements, but since I learned both systems, I can manage. Speaking of a lack of scientific method - you should use the weight of a solid since its volume may change...

When did we start using temperatures in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit

I disagree that it's gibberish; it's actually more intuitive. If 0 F is really cold and 100 F is hot, then 50 F is mild. In addition, why use a scale that isn't applicable to humans? Water may freeze at 0 C, but you won't because you're warm blooded. Yes, if you're dead you will freeze, but...

When did we start using temperatures in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit

While I use the metric system at work, the Fahrenheit scale is much more relevant for everyday life. 0 C is a chilly day and 100 C means you're dead. 0 F is a pretty cold day and 100 F is a pretty hot day. Andy

Just out of curiosity, do you use a torque wrench when you install your wheels?

    Salvage of 03 Jetta

$6000 for a 2003 with 175k miles is a fair offer. The fact that the car had (ir)regular maintenance done does not factor into it. Take the money, pay off the debt, and find your replacement. The longer you draw this out, the more you'll spend on fuel driving your truck. Is it worth it? --Andy

Anyone know how to do the Human Verification on the MyTurbodiesel site?

Works fine with Safari in OS X. Maybe the forum software has an issue with IE 10. If so, not much Myturbodiesel can do until an update is released. Also, who is your internet provider? Verizon, Comcast, Quest... --Andy

Anyone know how to do the Human Verification on the MyTurbodiesel site?

I just took a look at www.myturbodiesel.com and was able to view forums without logging in (except for the members only section). JasonTDI - if you ended up at Verizon log in page, it was likely ooperator error. Andy
