Goodbye ECOdiesel - totaled while parked @ 429,466 miles

Glad to see you got your new wheels. Cannot believe the amount of damage to the Jetta while the Toyota looks like it only broke its headlight, Just shows you how car structures improved in 20 years.

What is this lever for on a Bosch VE pump??? Diesel guru's please check.

Hi there These are very basic workhorse machines. They use older technology engines (very reliable though) designed by AVL. Mine is the SUV, it is a very rugged but comfortable machine that can take rough roads in its stride. Unfortunately fit and finish still needs some work. Mine also don't...

Bosch VE pump Idle adjustment, unable to adjust

Thx for the quick replies. Would 1/2 turn of the fuel screw cause the egt's to go alot higher than stock. I've done some research and found some guys are turning the fuel screw 2-8 turns, making more than 50% more bhp at the wheels. Dont know what the egt's on these are though. Also dont know...

OK some updates. Hooked up vagcom this weekend and found that vnt is almost completely stuck in boost position. Removed actuator and worked vnt lever until everything was smooth again. Put actuator back and all tested ok. The question now is, since this proves that the vnt is the culprit, how...

    Battery Low in morning

I have almost a similar problem. I recently replaced my OEM battery after 5years with a Calcium non maintenance type. My alternator tests 14.3v when the car is running. Left the car for 3 days while on a hunting trip, came back and it was dead as a door nail, not even lights on the dash. Got it...

    Please explain IQ adjustment???

Hi As I understand, adjusting the iq from lets say 3.5 to 5mg/stroke will actualy inject less fuel? Why then does the l/h increase from 0.5 to 0.8? Doesn't this indicate more fuel being used? I adjusted the IQ from 3.5 to 5 because there was some smoke at WOT mostly at night in headlights. The...

    Temperature gauge not working

Yes VW wrote the code controlling the gauge so that it sits still, not to bother the driver. I've heard stories that when it eventually goes over 90 and up its already too late and damage have already been done. There is some members that changed the rom code that the gauge reads more linear and...

    White smoke . . . power loss . . . knocking sound

White smoke is usually incorrect timing and the change in engine knock probably confirms this. It might be that the ecu read something incorrectly and adjusted the pump timing wrong or the pump might be going flty. Remove the top timing belt cover and make sure everything is as it should be...
