updates I find the car much quieter than the Jetta. With that said some worn highways like RT95 in southern Maine increase the amount of cabin noise. Cabin noise is low over Most roads of decent surface conditions. I have just over 32K miles on the car. Fuel economy is definitely related to...

E250/C250 Blutec vs 328d vs Jetta TDi

I own the 328D. My best advice is test drive the 328D. It is very impressive, the 180hp makes a big difference. Add in the 8 spd and 280 LBs-Ft of torque and it moves out nicely. They start about 40K.

2014 RAM EcoDiesel, so far very impressed

Auto blog green did a hypermiling test on the ram. They went 1000 mi, 38mpg! Granted speeds were very slow 52-60mph. Shows the truck can beat EPA numbers. http://green.autoblog.com/2014/05/09/hypermiling-ram-1500-ecodiesel-38-mpg/

Tranny I test drove a Sportwagen with DSG. I wasn't impressed. It seemed to make the driving experience bland. Some people report a hesitation when it starts from a stop. My wife just bought the A6 TDI it also has an 8 speed, but it doesn't feel as quick shifting as the BMW. The car has a...

Dimensions I compared the Golf to 328D the 328D is 1" wider, wheelbase is 9" longer, and overall car is 17" longer than golf. I guess if it's not big enough you need a C level car like the A6 or 5 series.

Engine Cooling System During my first month of ownership in Feb.I noticed the engine took about 15 miles to fully warm up. Those winter mornings were anywhere from 0 to 15f. The car was stored in a semi-heated garage at ~43f. The car evidently has a multiple path cooling system because the...

Dave you a mad man! ; ) The X5 is a nice vehicle. My wife decided since I moved up from VW, she needed to trade her Toureg TDI. She bought a sweet A6 TDI with a little nudging on my part! That car is nice it makes more torque than 5 series and still returns 34mpg in mixed driving. We haven't...
