'Appreciate the responses guys. I think I'm on the same page with most of you: re-use if they look good. So I have.
If you compare new & old engine mount bolts, you can definitely tell that they've stretched (which is why I replace them)... not so with the HB bolts I have.
As far as I'm...
So I've been doing some digging around here, and there seem to be just as many folks whose Bentleys say
"18 ft-lbs and re-use"
as there are whose say
"10 Nm + 1/4 turn, always replace" (my recently-updated eBahn falls into the latter category)
What I HAVEN'T been able to find, is anyone who...
EM, I highly suggest reading page 1 of this thread:

Actually I recommend reading the whole thing if you have time... you will learn an incredible amount of information. (including why you might want to give the Salsa Red and Black...
You're getting a GREAT deal! :) Best I could do here in MD, shopping around, was $400 under Invoice (PanaRoof & Rear 'bags) when every other dealer wanted MSRP and some idiots even $2K over.
Only have ~3 weeks left to wait for ours. :D
I may be forgetting how holdback works, but IIRC...
Since our JSW TDI will be the wife's car, and she isn't necessarily the VW diehard that I am, we did make an honest attempt to consider other makes/models before ordering ours, including a couple of Subarus. Agree, wasn't impressed with their mpg either.
In general I was pretty disappointed...
X2. Same reasons we ordered Cornsilk in ours. :)
Another big improvement over that butterscotch nightmare beige in the '09s is Cornsilk has black carpet. Complaints about the beige carpet in the previous models is fairly common.
Well no, of course not, but that could be a whole forum unto itself. :D
I cultivate a thriving and long-standing love/hate relationship with VW products vs. VW establishment. ;)
And I'm sure I have plenty of company. :p
The OP may have been referring to the fact that the VW website doesn't show these facelifted 2010s yet... which I among others find annoying. The 2010 Golf & GTI are kind of tucked over under the corner of one rug on the site, and everywhere else still has 2009 models.
It's getting to the...
OK, np. I thought you were talking to me b/c you quoted me...
DOH!
OK so I get today's "foot-in-mouth" award. :D
Somewhat natural to regard this site as even more of a sausagefest than vortex, but obviously in your case a very poor assumption on my part. A thousand pardons. :o :)
ibid: X2 on the NON-DSG. :D Congrats!
Hopefully you get it before Jan. and get to apply the credit this year...'
EDIT: actually scratch that... until some TDI engine allocation frees up for the Golfs, you could be waiting even longer...:(
Easy big fella... I've never started any trouble here, no reason to now. :p
If I had to choose one place to do TDI stuff, it would be here... more of a 'hardcore'/helpful audience and not quite as many annoying kids and dumbasses. Unfortunately I have other interests that 'tie' me to the...
I did the math a coupla weeks ago (posted somewhere on 'tex) and IIRC the wagon only weighs ~150 lbs more than the sedan. Which makes perfect sense to me, as most of that additional volumn is occupied by air. ;)
Thanks buddy. :D I think a whole lot of people don't understand that they're...
Hey Jeff, I wouldn't go by that, I think that number is crap. Various road tests have put the JS TDI at around 8.4 seconds, the wagen wouldn't be that much slower...
Interesting that the JS TDI on VW's site has 8.2 seconds, same as the 2.5. Point being, that typos are not uncommon or...
